Deep Down appears to be taking an eternity to complete, but, much like DriveClub, that extra attention to detail certainly seems to be paying off. The video below gives us our best look at Capcom’s free-to-play action game yet, revealing a mix of medieval combat and futuristic wisecracking. As previously announced, the whole game will take place inside an Animus-esque utility.
The thing that’s most impressed us about this trailer is that it’s starting to look like a real game now. Previous footage had included many of the same enemies, but here we see a rich variety of foes – both big and small. Given the pay-as-you-play format, it’s still unclear how much you’ll actually get for free – but hopefully more will be revealed in the run up to the title’s release some time next year.

Oh god why do the future bits make me worried (cough cough Assassins Creed).
@Jazzer94 They definitely look like the weak link, don't they? The medieval stuff looks great, though. Visuals are incredible!
@get2sammyb Everything else looked great, I just don't want to be forced out of the fun to do boring things.
@Jazzer94 needs an on/off switch in the options menu before you start the game, no future bits.
I hope the free to play format and microtransactions die off soon it's ruining gaming
@ReigningSemtex Let's see how they're being utilised first. If it's just cosmetic stuff like armour, I can see it being alright here. We don't have enough information, though.

@get2sammyb no your right but I can't help but paint them (free to play games) with the same brush. Call me crazy but I miss the days where you spent £40 on a game and it was yours along with anything else that you unlock after completing it, now when you want an extra character or armour it's all about squeezing the extra cash from the customer
@ReigningSemtex Yeah, I agree. On the flip side, you may end up getting a ton of entertainment from this game for free. I feel like free-to-play is at its best when I want to give the developer a few £££ because I feel like I've had plenty of fun for free.
I do still long for simpler times, too, though!
@ReigningSemtex while I agree somewhat, those days also meant that if a game didn't ship with some content, then you would never get it. There is a fine line between holding back content to nickel and dime you on (that F2P does) and charging for (actual) new content.
That always bugged me about AC. They steal you out of this incredible world full of action and adventure, and bring you to a lab where you can only slowly walk around and not really interact with anything. I hope this game doesn't do that to us.
I genuinely wish this were a full retail game, and not F2P. F2P games usually have jarring difficulty spikes in order to 'encourage' the player to pay for the one magic whatever that's going to level the playing field.
Oh....I'm interested now because it's a free-2-play..

game looks gorgeous no doubt, but do we know yet if it's still just a japan-only game? i feel like cap com would be missing out if they didn't release it elsewhere, especially given how poorly ps4 is doing in japan...
