Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference has come and gone, and although we hauled ourselves out of bed rather early in the morning, we're finding it hard to say that it wasn't worth it. After today's showing, we're becoming convinced that Sony has finally nailed the pacing of its pressers.
The games just kept coming, and despite the fact that many probably won't even make it overseas, there were still plenty of announcements and trailers to get excited about. So we think that it's about time for you readers to tell us what you thought. How good do you think the actual conference was? What got you hyped up the most? I was pretty pleased with the amount of content at this show, this easily beat out E3 and Gamescom. And I'm really excited about the future of RPG's on PS4 after this showing.
@Punkinhead145 I agree. I've become a huge fan of JRPG's over the past two years and I'm glad to see that there are finally some of them coming to PS4. I wonder what the differences will be for P5 on the PS4
For a keynote I'd say they hit a home run. The pacing was good, a healthy amount of content, lots of Vita games, and even saved the best for last ( DQ Heroes ) This conference got me a lot more hyped for TGS. Only way TGS can top this is with Tekken 7, Final Fantasy IV, The Last Guardian ( I'll hold my breath on that one ) and Gran Turismo 7.
Pre: TGS 2014 >>>>> Gamescom 2014 >> E3 2014. If you disagree, show yourself out.
Pre: TGS is awesome!
I would say that it was good. I won't say very good because I know they could do better in terms of surprises and stuff, but this was a solid conference and more so compared to E3. I think the reason why I liked this showing more is that the people representing Sony this time were more likeable compared to the people representing Sony at E3 and gamescom.
I'm scared with the amount of new amazing games announced yesterday at TGS, E3 and gamescon coming soon to PS4+vita. I'll have to work harder and play more hours to keep up! My gf's gonna be mad. What a great time to be a gamer!
It's unfortunate that Vita only gets a spotlight put on it by Sony at conferences in territories where they think Vita sells. Vita sells everywhere. Believe it or sell the console short.
Great conference, it was well paced and lots of good content. Best part was no indies. This show made E3 and Gamescom look like the sh*t they were and hopefully SCEA and SCEE were taking notes. Now if just 1/3 of these come over that will be nice. I know for sure I'm getting the Resident Evils.
Best conference they've had so far by a long shot but seeing as this was the region that they really needed to bring their A game this isn't to surprising.
@Gamer83 No indies? .... Um okay I'll take your word for it, I just hope I'm not hallucinating.
Amazing so far, the real question is if they do plan on localizing all these games.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 made me happy.
@Epic Thanks to PS4 being a beast in EU/US, there's a higher chance you'll see these (PSV & PS4 or PS4) titles coming our way. Just count out SEGA because... SEGA and Square Enix is well um...
Only a few games worth mentioning, and hardly anything was shown of them. Kinda boring, IMO. The best ones we already knew were coming...
30 minutes of vita content is very appreciated, and my most favoirite is themes confirmation. I like most of the game shown, except otome games
Most favourite game shown is God eater 2 rage burst, hope it comes here
2015 ps4 will be king in Japan
Meh. Really not a fan of jrpgs. I find the stories and characters so convoluted and flat out retarded in some instances lol.. I do like seeing new content of any kind coming to vita though. I love my vita it's such an awesome handheld I just wish more devs would take the risk of putting some bigger budget games on it.. also wish people would start buying it more lol so then the games would definitely come. As for the ps4, I was happy to see a date for bloodborne! Pretty pumped for that game
@Gamer83 do you belive is the last games on ps4 sizzlers are indies? Astebreed (robot shooting zoe like) and Croixleur sigma are doujin games ( indies ) but that what makes indie great in Japan, because the visual quality is more or less the same as corporates
this is what E3 and Gamescon shoudl be like, now all we need is localization confirmation of all these games...... the only one confirmed is Persona, I think Disgaea, Senran Kagura, Neptunia, Quintet and all those are certain to get localized, the big questions marks are God Eater, Dragon Quest and Yakuza
@Punished_Boss
Apparently I was wrong and there were a couple indie games but the vast majority was the bigger budget, retail games that I like. And they certainly weren't allowing people to go up there on stage and drone on and on about indies. Infact, they didn't drone on about anything, the pacing was excellent. Even the parts that were more about features or hardware numbers (which they had to and did acknowledge PS4 numbers in Japan are pretty abysmal) actually moved. There were no corporate tools standing up there going on about nothing like the clowns at SCEA and SCEE do.
Had very low expectations so this turned out really great imo!
@turtlelink
Yup, it's funny how it works sometimes. I figured for sure E3 or Gamescom would've been awesome, and I was left underwhelmed after both (enough to the point where I made sure to speed up my purchase of an X1 because MS is bringing a good number of games I want to play), so based on those two shows, the expectations for this were very low but credit to the Japan team, it delivered.
Sony Pre-TGS confernce have sold me on TGS this year and it may bring more exciting news than E3 and Gamescon
I never watched a SCEJ pre-TGS conference before and neither did I ever follow TGS press coverage, so I had zero expectations.
I came away surprised with the amount of content and games (I recall there were 44 games shown). I've never really played many JRPG's, but going by the amount of praise a game like Persona 4 Golden gets I'll certainly look into it on my Vita. Always open to explore more genres and games.
Overall I thought it was good.
I still preferred Gamescom though. But both the SCEE and SCEJ were better than SCEA's E3 conference imo when it came to pacing. SCEA can learn a few things from SCEE and SCEJ imo.
Awesome conference. Put both E3 & Gamescom to shame. So many awesome games coming to Ps4 & Vita in the east. As soon as I seen Senran Kagura for Ps4 I was doing cartwheels
@divinelite Croixleur Sigma was pretty darn good. It was one of the first review codes I'd been sent by Nyu Media. The combat system on it is so slick it puts most action games out there to shame.
It was cool But the English over dubs(or whatever you call them) were dreadful 1 minute a guy was speaking er in a Mans voice & then it just changed to a Woman's voice mid sentence?!(did he get tired half way through the sentence & the Woman had to finish it off)
Personally, after only just watching it, I found it awful and voted very poor. Persona 5 apart there was literally nothing that excited me. It was better presented and paced than recent Sony shows but there was no wow moment.
@rastamadeus - Remember this is for the Japanese audience, not western. If you were local to Sony then you'd probably find it more appealing.
Considering this is for TGS, I thought it was an excellent conference. Plus my Everybody's Golf prediction was indeed correct, yay!
@rastamadeus So you're the one.
Remember people, this wasn't Sony's TGS conference. This was their pre-TGS conference. Needless to say, it bodes well for the actual thing.
@Epic I really hope so plus this might be the reason they set up that localization studio
@ShogunRok Crikes! I wonder what they have left up their sleeve to show off on the actual TGS conference? Surely not more new announcements? My brain and wallet are having a hard enough time keeping up as it is!
Loves the Vita news, didn't give a damn about anything else. Except for maybe that VR demo.
Nice showing of RPGs. I'm definitely excited to see Persona 5 on the PS4. Sony has been killing it.
Didn't watch it, and if the list of highlights in the article is anything to go by, I didn't miss much.
Biggest news for me is the themes, and even they're irrelevant.
@Dodoo My taste is far more Eastern than Western which is why I voted very poor. Bar Persona 5, which we all know is coming, there's just nothing (for me) on the way.
@Punished_Boss Was already someone who had voted before me I think. Unless only twenty people had voted.
Loved it and this was only the ore conference. Hopefully we some some amazing announcements at TGS like Gravity Rush 2 for PS4/Vita.
Ive not been to into jrpgs for a while now, hopefully il get the taste for them again as i do have alot of good memorys, i think thers going to be alot of happy gamers at the moment and this will make the ps4 sell well in japan, i think its rounding the console off really well and thers still more to come! Happy days
That 1 mech game I saw and and my most favorite news Mobile Suit Gundam PS4 confirmed!!!!! Im seriously hoping they push the next gen Mobile suit games way higher on PS4 ... from the teaser I can see there are already starting by the looks of the graphics! I hope it's nothing Dynasty Warriors gundam related or even EXVS. ..I hope they maid some more games similar to side stories! If side stories was the first gundam on PS3 instead of its flop predecessor crossfire. ..Playstations flagship mech game would silk be a hit all across the globe!!!
