"Alright, let's go to the beach"

Naughty Dog is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, and the first-party outfit has readied a brand new art book in order to acknowledge the occasion. The coffee table collectible includes images and sketches from all of its titles, including Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter. However, the beefy book is designed to span the studio’s entire career – and so includes some unseen concepts from its upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Considering that the memento hasn’t officially released yet, we’ve decided against posting those images here – but we will describe them. One particular picture shows an assault rifle armed Nathan Drake trudging across a rainy beach scene, which is likely to be related to the shipwreck storyline referenced in the title’s original trailer. Seeing as the project has gone through some turbulence since then, this picture may be outdated by now – but it’s interesting nonetheless.

Similarly fascinating is a shot of Drake in a rubber dinghy, which harks back to the jet-ski sequences from the first game in the series, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. This portion of the artwork appears to refer to a flooded village of kinds, with other shots showing a figure on the top of a rooftop, and another simply depicting a dilapidated building. It’s not really a lot to go on, but it’s a little glimpse into the creative process behind the hotly anticipated sequel if nothing else.
