Kingdom Hearts 3 III PS4

With veteran Square Enix artist Tetsuya Nomura now in charge of Kingdom Hearts III, it wasn’t a huge surprise to see the sequel skip the Tokyo Game Show last week. The developer spent the past eight years or so of his tenure at the Japanese company making excuses regarding Final Fantasy XV – which is only 50 per cent finished, by the way – so don’t expect to see the Disney crossover for several years yet.

Don’t worry, though, as in an interview with Famitsu magazine – as reported by Siliconera – he stressed that the project is progressing according to plan. The developer’s had a few hiccups with the title’s engine, but it sounds like the writing and character designs are almost complete, so that’s good news at least. Furthermore, the gameplay currently best resembles PlayStation Portable entry Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, with plenty of Keyblade transformations employed in combat.

Unfortunately, any rumours regarding the inclusion of Frozen characters remain uncertain at the moment, as the developer has denied the reports that have been doing the rounds of late. Given the movie’s popularity in Japan, we’re going to assume that you’ll definitely be kicking it with Anna, Elsa, and crew – but the firm probably wants to make a big announcement regarding that, which we’re sure will materialise at some point by 2031.
