Here we go again. The infamous Lizard Squad group are apparently taking credit for attacking Destiny's servers, using DDoS attacks to cut players' connections to the game.
If you were planning on blasting through the sci-fi shooter this weekend with some friends, it's certainly not an ideal situation. Developer Bungie has yet to comment on the bombardment, but we doubt that the studio will be best pleased.
For those of you who have been keeping up to date with recent events, Lizard Squad also claimed responsibility for the PlayStation Network outage that occurred last month. Were you busy enjoying Destiny before this rather rude interference? Rant and rage in the comments section below.
Update: The servers appear to be back online for some, although there are still reports that the attacks are ongoing. Let us know how you're getting on in the comments section.

These guys must be fun at parties 😨 Provided they actually go outside or actually get invited...
Now can this article's comments rival the infamous DDOS attack of August? Let's find out in the next episodes of DDOS Z!
PSN's absolutely fine my end. Was just about to boot Destiny, though. Guess I'll play something else...
do they really have nothing better to do than ruin other peoples fun
WHy don't they catch these guys already? This is getting stupid.
OMG why lizard squad why? just when i only need 4 more strange coins to get the helm of inmost light....looks like ill have to wait 3 weeks to get it
So PSN stopped them and now they go after Bungie. Usless tools!
I had a long day doing a tough job...wanted to chill out and level up my hunter to level 23 or at least hit the daily hard story challenge. If I could get a hold of the Lizard squad if what I did to them were filmed it would be so horrifying that reaction videos of people watching my video would be posted on YouTube...
These mo fo's need to get themselves a proper job. And we should call them something else, Lizard Squad sound too cool. Let's refer to them as The Pink Pony Fairies. Then they might lay a bit lower in the future...
I can get online now, I think. Thankfully the attacks haven't crippled Destiny for hours upon hours!
Really hope I'm not speaking too soon.
So what excuse are the p*ssants giving this time?
They are now known as the "nut-rubbers".
@ShogunRok Sadly back online too late for me...right now I'd just End up with my ship floating in orbit as I curled up asleep in my chair. I'm getting too old.
This is getting old. It doesn't affect me right now, but these guys are really ticking me off. I'd love to see them go to jail right now, multiple attacks and bomb threats really need to see a price paid.
psn is hacked
I got cut off whilst on patrol on Venus earlier. Didn't think much of it, thought my Internet might have been playing up.
Now I know why!
Is psn down or just destiny.sad acts man. Get a life and grow up lizard jerks!!!
I know your mad but please watch the language -Tasuki-
Nothing anybody can do, but this is why I absolutely hate the idea of online only games. I just want to play the story but because you have to be connected to the damn servers, if hackers or whatever decide they want to bring them down, you end up with a $60 coaster. Unfortunately I'm probably going to end up trading the game in before too long. It's good and I've enjoyed playing it, but too much can go wrong, especially when people decide to pull crap like this.
@JohnKarnes
From some videos I saw on youtube addressing this group, it sounds like they aren't done either. Went after PSN, just went after Destiny and supposedly, and not surprisingly, CoD is next. This is getting extremely annoying.
Still playing xillia 2. Trying to wrap it up before shadow of mordor comes out.
As for the online issues, im glad ive waited on buying a year subscription. I probably wont get one til the new year along with a second controller.
I honestly don't know why law enforcement don't go after these guys already. What are they waiting for them to bring down the whole internet before they do something?
@Tasuki I'm sure they're after them. The problem is that they could feasibly be located all around the world.
@Tasuki They are probably comprised of people all over the world doing the attacks which would be hard to track.
Basically lizard squat are anti gamers. It kind of shows with what they are doing. All it is, is them trolling people that want to play video games.
It's bad enough that I'm constantly loosing my connection, now it's worse? Tell me again why I'm even playing this game.
Only been cut off a couple of times today. Side note, I play since launch, finally get an exotic armour, not got any legendary yet, its frickin warlock class, I'm hunter class and have no interest in the other two, I dismantle and find out the junk I got for it is only good for upgrading warlock junk, seriously wtf??????????
Lizard squad? Really? I knew about the PSN being down last month but never heard of them. And who spends their time doing DDoS attacks on video games? It's like revenge of the script kiddies. I don't get it.
Exactly why always online games really annoy me. There should be no reason why I can't play offline on this game... The few boring hours I put into this game I didn't encounter anything that required having to be connected.
I find it strange that XBOX hasn't been having these issues...
As much as I find this obnoxious, I hope this shows players the glaringly obvious flaw that involves paying to play online multiplayer. Remember the attack in 2011? PS+ didn't mean much back then, but if you lose a month of paid game time now...
I don't know man I'm getting really pissed off at sony. I thought the reason they're charging to play online was so that they can improve psn. It seems like they haven't done s*** with all these service interruptions.
This group are making it seem like hacking psn is a walk in the park which is worrisome seeing as how I have my card information stored on my profile.
@THEundying27 you can't really improve to the degree that a DDoS is preventable I'm afraid. Nothing Sony could do.
I'm more concerned about them tweeting a picture of John Smedley's father's grave. That was a low blow. Most ungentlemanly of them.
And this is why some of us have a life outside of online gaming.
@THEundying27
I'd suggest getting that card information off there. Learned my lesson from the 'great' PSN hack of 2011.
DAYM an I thought I ran out of dayta, dam u hackers 💥👊
@WARDIE that's because Microsoft's server count is huge compare to sony's, so it's almost impossible to bring xbox live down. It's not sonys fault though since it would be absurd for them to have the same amount of servers just for the gaming division. MSFT actually needs that much servers because of all their software products, mainly the windows operating system.
@Diddy_kong I agree if most of the people were kids Buts it's also many adults who don't have a set schedule to play. so when the network is down they lose out on maybe their only free/available time to play. This affects mostly the people with jobs and kids not the average 15 YO.
Im going to trade destiny in this weekend, i just dont have time for the kind or grinding that is required of this game, im currently lv 24 but with my family, work and studying everytime i play i want a reward, a feel of progression atleast but i can play this for 3 hours and feel like i am exactly where i was before i picked up the controller, half way between this and diablo loot system would be perfect for this game i think and would have stopped me from getting rid of it.
