Bungie’s now flipped the switch on Destiny’s online servers, but if you’ve just received your copy of the game, you have some waiting to do before you can join the first-person fray. The title’s inaugural PlayStation 4 patch has hit Sony’s servers overnight, and you’ll be required to download the 296MB update before creating your character and connecting to The Tower.
There’s no word on what the patch does just yet, but we suspect that it will include some minor bug fixes and network tweaks. If you haven’t got your copy just yet – the title’s not officially out until tomorrow, after all – then the update should start downloading automatically when you pop the Blu-ray in your disc drive. This nifty next-gen tech is most convenient, isn’t it?

I just wish they'd modify the PS4 so that it checks for updates when you put a disc in the drive, and not after you start the game.
I know recently used stuff updates automatically, but if you play a game you haven't touched for a while, it's frustrating to have it tell you it's updating after you start, and then have to quit and restart.
@Paranoimia That would be a good idea. I have games that I don't play and don't want them downloading updates anymore. Blacklight Retribution for example, one time it had a 10+GB update that I didn't want. I deleted the game to stop anymore unwanted updates.
I think i´m going to cry.. i haven't gotten my TV back! Not going to be able to play Destiny on the release day. WHY ME JESUS!?!
this is the patch that makes the game fun. kidding. I'm super excited to play, figuring that getting on tomorrow will be a nightmare though.
@Remixora where's your TV? Repair shop?
