We suppose that we should give Sony credit for delaying the PlayStation Network’s previously planned maintenance after Sunday’s outage – even if it was only for a few days. The platform holder has announced that Monday’s postponed preservation period will now take place later today in both Europe and North America, starting from 16:00PM BST in the former territory and 09:40AM EDT in the latter.
As is always the case, Account Management and the PlayStation Store will be unavailable, but as long as you’ve logged in to the PlayStation Network recently, you should be able to play online without a hitch. Not the end of the world, then, but we don’t think that these regular maintenance periods send out the best message about the stability of the Japanese giant’s servers – especially considering the recent downtime.

Don't see that they've got much choice, to be honest.
It probably needs doing prior to firmware 2.0, they couldn't do it the other day due to the attack, and they'll want to get it done before Destiny hits.
Besides, if it doesn't affect online play, what does it matter? Okay, you need to sign in beforehand, but that's not much of a hardship is it? If you're the sort of person who's online enough to moan about this, you'll be signing in regularly anyway. And how often do you need to access Account Management or the store?
Mountains and molehills, etc.
@Paranoimia I think it's just a perception problem they have. If you're a layman and don't understand what's going on, all you see on popular news sites are that the "PSN is being hacked" and the "PSN is offline". Neither are true, but it looks bad - especially when you don't really see as much with the other platforms.
If you're going to give Sony credit for moving the maintenance why not just take it one stage further and give credit to the hackers for making Sony move the maintenance?
@voodoo341 Now thats deep XD
More seriously Im getting Diablo III this afternoon hoping it doesnt impact the day one patch
I've been waiting for this for soooo long. I know its a big ask but why do they always do it in the evenings? Why not at 3am/6am never mind.
Kudos to Sony for moving the date. It meant that I could play online on the bank holiday day off after all
It would be even better if, from now on, they permanently changed their maintenance days to Tuesdays rather than Mondays then they would never fall on national holidays at all! Good idea eh Sony?
@SimonAdebisi - They are doing it at 3am/6am somewhere, just not where you are!
@Dodoo not good enough
@SimonAdebisi lol
@SimonAdebisi That would be a great time. My gues as to why it doesn't happen at that time, is that the people doing the maintenance are also asleep then too.
@Jaz007 bonuses, night time overtime?? I understand your point but as its a regular thing it would make sense to not always poop on the UK with afternoon/evening slots
Oh I need to download episode 5 of the Walking Dead today then!
Well, they need to do this maintenance, so it's best if they do it now and get it out of the way. We can still play online so I don't see a problem here.
@get2sammyb When will it be back on? My daughter entered my password wrong to many times on my vita...
Only issue i have is that because my ps4 is not activated as my primary, while i can play games online, it doesnt help me that my digital collection cannot connect to the server to verify the license so not one digital game is playable (which is every game ive ever bought for ps4). Shenanigans i guess, its my own fault for continuing not to activate my ps4 as primary.
Hopefully the PS Store is up because I want to download InFamous First Light tonight and have it ready for the weekend tomorrow after school.
Can play online but I can't access my friends list or create a party so I can't play online with my friends.
