Phew, that was a busy week

You wanted it, so we’re doing it: WAYPTW will now be published on a weekly basis. In order to make this work, we’re not changing the format, but we’re going to keep the actual article portion more condensed than ever before. This is simply to help us to turn these pieces around much quicker. Otherwise, it’s the same feature that you know and love – so get commenting.

It’s been a busy week with Gamescom, so I’ve not really done much gaming – meaning that I’m itching to give P.T., Hohokum, and Surgeon Simulator a proper whirl. I love that the PlayStation 4 allows me to switch between such wildly different experiences on the fly.

Jamie O’Neill, Retro Editor

The Q&A section of Gamescom's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain preview show provided an interesting insight into how Hideo Kojima works, including a nice nod to Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand. The show also whetted my appetite to download and play P.T. on Sunday.

With the madness of Gamescom dying down, I have decided to devote my entire weekend to the noble pursuit of relaxation. To this end, I will be slithering my way through Hohokum, which is essentially the most calming Metroidvania game ever made.

I'm having a break on holiday this week, and so is my beloved PlayStation Vita. My 3DS will be getting some much needed love instead, as I finish off my island adventures in Lost in Blue 2 and play Pokémon X on the train. [Nintendo Life is this way, Nicola – Ed]

This weekend I'll mostly be living the pirate life as I "yo ho ho" and "shiver me timbers" through Risen 3: Titan Lords. When I take a break from that, I'll probably fire up Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for the PS4, which has the honour of being the third copy of the game that I now own.

I'll still be fending off the infected this weekend in The Last of Us Remastered, jumping between Trophy hunting in the campaign and keeping my clan well fed in Factions. I'll also be flexing my heart transplant skills in Surgeon Simulator. Ahem, so far it doesn't look like my NHS application will get accepted.

I finally got around to finishing inFAMOUS: Second Son's Paper Trail DLC this week, and was really surprised by how well the detective-like experience was put together. This weekend, I'm moving on to play something that I've put off for too long: Mass Effect. But should I play as the male or female Commander Shepard? Decisions, decisions... [FemShep is best, Joey – Ed]

This weekend I will be rounding up some mates to play some The Last of Us multiplayer. Our favourite playlist is the SOCOM-esque Survivors mode.

And that’s it for the first weekly edition of WAYPTW – short, sweet, and hopefully effective. One question remains: what will be occupying your time over the coming days? Let us know in the comments section below.
