It was pretty "meh" the best thing was Media Molecule announcing Tearaway unfolded. No Vita news is sad. And there wasn't any big annoucments to go up against the M$ moneyhat at all.
I know not everyone's going to agree, but I think the variety was outstanding. So many different types of games.
i thought it was terrible.
Vita? It's been coming for quite some time now, this event not only showed that but dug the knife in.
Everything else was good.
Best thing for me was The Order trailer before it even started. Waste of an hour for me!
Vita is officially dead and Microsoft destroyed Sony with Tomb Rider...
Bloodborne, Sammy, Bloodborne!
I though it was a strong conference bearing in mind the amount of titles shown, but the Vita's omission from these things is getting ridiculous now.
Plus, it's very obvious from reading the comments here that many PS4 owners aren't satisfied with Sony's 'Mum's the word' approach to their first party line up, and despite their assurances that they aren't being complacent, they're yet to do anything to put those consumer's minds at ease. A-hem, @gamer83.
I liked the variety of games, but I didn't feel like there was anything major to swing momentum back to sony.
So I'm selling my Vita anyway.
Lets see. More huge focus on indie, no counter to Tomb Raider and ZERO mention of that handheld system Sony released in 2012. I'm going 3/10 and I'm being very, very generous. I haven't been this steamed after a Sony conference since E3 2006.
It was average but pacing was good, man is the Vita dead so hard.
@DualWielding
Destroyed Sony and destroyed me. I am so mindraped right now, I probably need to take a 3 hour or so nap soon.
Why is everyone freaking out about Tomb Raider and MS? Being a Sony guy myself, I think it's whatever that TR is exclusive on the XBone. More so, it's probably timed anyways. Sony's lineup was pretty good. People just like to complain...
Sony has to know that whole thing was horrible. Did you hear the crowd? They hardly made a sound the whole time, even during Mm's cute little reveal
Did Vita get the attention it deserve? I don't really think you should be asking this
So DayZ being confirmed for PS4, Until Dawn, Bloodborne and that stuff isn't exciting?
what MS moneyhat are we talking about. Again, sorry for Tomb Raider fans, but Tomb Raider never has nor will it ever sell consoles.
Sony did a good showing, so did MS, but neither were amazing and for their Tomb Raider announcement, it wasn't a megaton drop.
No Persona 5 but MGSV and Bloodborne was showcased so that was good enough for me.
@WaLzgi >:[
@Demi_God: Thank you for speaking truth!
@ObviouslyAdachi
I thought there was decent enough applause actually, but none of that sh*t matters. I guess we'll see how the sales charts play out. I know I keep saying MS will catch up and it hasn't happened yet, but if it keeps getting big games like Titanfall and Tomb Raider and Sony keeps up with the indie push and doesn't start showing more things will turn eventually, just like they turned into Sony's favor last gen when they got their crap together around 2009.
They have forgot about the VITA... Again...
@Demi_God
compare the number of comments for the Tomb Rider announcements against the number of comments for any of Sony's announcement. Sorry but it was clearly Gamescon's biggest Megaton
Ahh man vita no GTA v no nothing just stupid games man it's really dead I need a kid who will buy mine
@DaulWielding:
Not saying it wasn't a "Megaton". Just that it's not that big of a deal. It will come to the PS4 eventually.
@Demi_God
Since E3 my view has changed big time on the Xbox One. Those games you mentioned will certainly appeal to some, no arguing, for me? It's the opposite. I'll get LBP 3, I'll get MLB 15 The Show and I'll definitely get Uncharted 4 and I will love each one, but on Xbox One there's Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Scalebound, Crackdown, Halo 5, Quantum Break (my most anticipated next-gen game) and now Rise of the Tomb Raider. Just more me to be excited about on that console. I still believe Sony will win me over in the end, it's done so for 3 gens in a row (and completed dominated during the PS2 days, I didn't really need anything else then, though I had an Xbox). I'm a bit miffed at the moment though. Sony is doing exactly what it did with PS3. Coming out real slow with the exclusives and they're not even getting all the big third party games now.
Now the one good thing out of the conference is the 99 Euro price with 3 digital games for Playstation Tv, its a pretty good price considering how electronics are always so much more expensive in Europe
@Dohv
Just gotta ask man, because we discussed it a few days ago. Feel a little better about X1 now or are you still thinking of selling it?
I missed the press conference. Is there any place you can re-watch or download it?
@DualWielding that's comments and as we all know, including you that comments don't equal sales. The reason people think it's huge is because the series has always been on past PS platforms but also TR being on 360 and PS3 which didn't sell well at all on the 360. Sorry, it's not a megaton no matter how you look at it. Also, coming out holiday of 2015, yea, umm no. Tomb Raider lost it after the 2nd game in the series.
@gamer83 your biased (not trying to start an arguement because I'm biased on the PS4 end) and it's okay. You say racing games and yet you forget to that driveclub is also releasing. But of course Driveclub doesn't interest you at all but forza does? something is wrong there. I can already see the flip for sake of sticking up for Microsoft.
@Gamer83
The only reason I'm not switching to Xbone is because I still believe PS4 will eventually get Japanese exclusives
@Gamer83 Lol I just took my XB1 off Craigslist. I'm keeping my console. I'm still a PS fan and love Sony but MS is going all out.
Wow, quite a lot of complaining here. I thought the amount of games shown was amazing. Getting DayZ was pretty big IMO, and better than Tomb Raider. BloodBorne, Hell Blade, Rime, PT, Wild all look great to me. If anyone really thinks that Microsoft spending a butt load of money to get tomb raider for the first six months is going to change anything, well, I have a bridge to sell you. Sony duid a good job.
@Kor on their official website
It was alright I guess. I dont have a ps4 yet but there where a couple games here and there that made me more excited for when I finally get it but.....as a advent vita player im highly disappoited....at least I still have Japanese games to play on the vita but come on sony bring something to the vita that isnt a remastered collection of ps2 games (I do enjoy them though)
Pretty good, didn't see the end of the conference, but what I saw was pretty good.
Rime, The Tomorrow Children, Wild looked all amazing imo.
A bit disappointed that they gave Vita so little attention of course, but it helps that I just bought one and that I have a massive backlog of games for it.
I wished the Vita got a Tearaway expansion, loved that game.
I wasted my money on Ps vita now it deserve no love
@DualWielding
I think even that's up for debate now though. MS isn't joking, the checkbook has been open and Phil Spencer isn't afraid to hand them out.
@Dohv
Yeah... See it, seems the general attitude here still is that this isn't a big deal. And it may not be in Europe, but I think the tide will begin to turn in North America, it already started a bit. X1 has been tracking higher since the price drop on websites that allow to look at that stuff and I've talked to a few game store managers I know and they say the general attitude towards the console has changed. Not so much that people hate PS4 but that they loved their 360 and those who were late to the gen and just looking to get in now are only seeing the recent positives of Xbox One so the logical thing is to stick with the brand you've been with the last 8 or 9 years. I'll be glad to have both consoles, but I'm starting to have doubts creep in a bit about Sony. They've got some cool games, but are falling behind in the cool exclusives, which is important.
I wasn't crazy about this conference either. Rime blew me away again, but I was kind of expecting that one to happen. Tearaway and Ethan Carter were really the only other things that caught my attention. The attitude of the show just felt off. The developers didn't seem particularly excited whilst on stage, which just made the whole show feel a lot less fun than say E3 was.
@Gamer83 In Sony still has some stuff to show but why hold back ? Guerrilla Games new IP should've been shown. I'll keep my Xbone and now I know I can get a WiiU since I was hoping Sony was going to give me a reason to buy a Vita but that thing is dead. So now I'll be getting a WiiU this holiday.
@Gamer83 I don't think they're necessarily falling behind in exclusives. It's just in the short term. Microsoft has a vastly superior 2014 holiday season to work with. Sony has all their games in 2015 it seems. Even things like Tearaway aren't coming until next year. They just don't seem to have much of a stable of games to put out this year. They do have some super awesome looking smaller downloadable titles like Pavilion, but as great as that looks, it can't really hold up to something like Sunset Overdrive! But next year, Sony's exclusives are ridiculous!
Bloodborne, RIME, Alienation, DayZ, Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn, Volume, mother-fing WILD!
and people are saying it's terrible...what's happened to all the gamers?
Disappointing no vita news at all just sad and who had the better conference MS? MS MS wins big time
Although Sony's Gamescom showing was a little lackluster, I still can't wait to get my hands on Rime, reminds me so much of Ico, SoC with a hint of Zelda Windwaker, all of which were excellent and right up my street. One thing I will give Sony, they did show a lot more variety in software. And we all know there are a lot of first party titles on the way, with Naughty Dog, Guerrilla and Sony Santa Monica as well as others a no show, there's sure to be some surprises in the coming months. I reckon The Last Guardian will make an appearance at the Tokyo Games Conference.
Considering this is Gamescom and not E3 I thought it was pretty good for PS4. Obviously pretty bad for my lovely little Vita.
I have so many games I'm looking forward to on PS4 I've literally lost count and while most of them aren't out till 2015 there's still a shit tonne of stuff in 2014 like FC3, AC Unity, DriveClub blah blah...
@Dohv
On the Vita, if it wasn't clear before it is now, that thing is more than dead to not just the general public but Sony as well. Time for people to move on. I actually can't really blame Sony. It has bled money for a while and Vita wasn't doing it any favors. The mistake was trying a second time to compete in a part of the market clearly owned by Nintendo that Sony just doesn't seem to really get, for lack of a better term.
@gbanas92
MS has some pretty good stuff going forward as well. Even if we don't want to count Rise of the Tomb Raider there's still Crackdown, Scalebound, Quantum Break and Halo 5. It's not like there's nothing. I'd like to see Sony play it's hand a little bit soon here. I keep hearing about playing things close to the vest, at a certain point maybe it's not that and more that they just don't have anything. I don't like saying that but the time is now to stop saying 'we're not complacent' and start showing us why exactly PS4 owners should 'feel special' and why PS4 is 'the best place to play.' '#4theplayers...' Right now, and into 2015 even, I'm not seeing it.
Average at best. Vita is dead, none of the games were particularly exciting. Microsoft definitely walked away the winners.
I'm hearing that Tearaway Unfolded is NOT a port and is just set in the same universe as the original Tearaway, sort of like how the LBP games are... Hopefully that's true and I think it is as there's a lot of content in the trailer that is not in the Vita game...?
I didn't expect to read all this negativity. I like the look of loads of it.
Tearaway Unfolded, Alienation and Wild are incredible, can't wait to buy my PS4,
So many awesome games. The new Order trailer looks very impressive also...
Plenty of games, and good pacing. Nothing really blew me away, though, and the absolute lack of anything Vita related was pretty depressing, even if it was sort of expected. I'd say average, or solid.
@SanderEvers Don't rub it in - I am a Wii U owner!
@Shogunrok. exactly. I thought it was paced pretty well and there were lots of games. There was just nothing like the infamous E3 showing that screamed you'll regret it if you don't buy me right away.
@Dodoo - i have a Wii U now...and it's looking like it's going to be a lot better soon!
So Tomb Raider exclusive to Xbox? So what the first game was just a poor quality Uncharted rip-off; nothing to with tombs.
There is enough coming to the Vita that it doesn't need much to keep me happy - Freedom Wars; Gravity Rush 2 and hopefully Phantasy Star Nova.
I think it is time for some to man up and enjoy what it does have rather than constantly moan about it.
Terrible. Just terrible. 3/10. It would have been higher if it wasn't for all the timed exclusive content/games. They're seriously wasting money paying for timed exclusivity.
@Gamer83
How has the vita been bleeding money when they haven't supported it for years? Isn't it safe to assume that it's making a tiny profit at this point?
@ztpayne7 Yeah you're right. For me it's worth getting just for Zelda!
Interestingly it also seems to be outselling Xbone on a weekly basis recently worldwide. According to VGChartz though so might not be true?!
Vita is doing good business in Japan where it is the number two console behind the 3DS. Hence a lot of Japanese games for it whilst the pathetic Western developers treat it as badly as they do the Wii U. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I would rather Sony keep their first party excusives close to the chest until they are certain on release dates and times. Was the games community not complaining not long ago about how they hate when companies reveal games two or more years in advance?? I mean I literally read people complain about that on multiple sites, including this one. Now you want to complain they are not telling you enough? Fickle crowd indeed. There were some nice surprises, nice gameplay footage, and overall good showing. There is still a lot of games to be announced by Sony, but why let it all out when you are already trouncing the competition without having to show all your cards??
@SonyInfinity
Can't speak for others, but I don't mind if a game is announced then doesn't release until two years after as long as they aren't going out of their way to promise the game at a certain time then push it back two or three times. We were told Batman: Arkham Knight on Oct 18, even a week before the delay was announced, then a week later 'sorry 2015.' That's annoying. If the game is just announced with a place holder date of a long time off like Uncharted 4 was with the holiday 2015 window, whatever, at least I know it's on the way and there's been no real promise just a date that could change give or take a few months.
I hated every second. Not even a mention. It's worse than E3, and E3 made me FURIOUS.
@gamer83 It doesnt happen a lot but i agree with you... Sony this gamescom is another reason why i havent bought a Ps4! Im considering a Xbox one...
It blows my mind that people rattle off games that are at this point little more than a logo and a CG trailer as an advantage for one platform over another. How do you know you will even like said games?
EDIT: This goes all ways, too. For example, I'd certainly toss Uncharted 4 into that category right now, as we know next to nothing about it.
@MoleZandor That's the way things are on Pushsquare these days. Takes a little getting used to but you'll eventually be able to filter through most of the bile.
I thought it was decent. As expected to be honest. Quite a few interesting games to keep an eye on going forward. Gamescom has always been the place Sony showcase their smaller offerings, so I'm not sure why people were expecting E3 levels of showmanship & announcements. TGS is just around the corner, hopefully we get some Hyperdimension Neptunia V II Ps4 gameplay footage there...
so far only the few sum of people on here have a problem with Sony's gamescom and yet I go everywhere else and it's all positive. Granted, entertainment purposes of course, but it's quite funny that everyone is basically saying how great MS gamescom is when it was about the same, the only difference was a Tomb Raider announcement and that isn't even a big deal as I'm sure it's going to sell like crap. in fact, I know it will.
@Demi_God I'm glad other people liked it!
Just working through all the announcements, and there's tons of different stuff. My personal opinion is that Microsoft's show was very safe, but it did definitely have a wow factor with the Tomb Raider thing.
@get2sammyb But lets not forget Sony's "share play" feature thing or whatever it is where I can have a friend play co-op even if he doesn't have the game, but a PS+ subscription. That was a HUGE announcement and it's because they also were aiming for this during their PS4 reveal of last year. I mean, that right there sets a huge bar for consoles.
I mean, even DayZ coming to the PS4 is just as huge as that was very much rumored to be Xbox One exclusive and it's not.
@Demi_God "Again, sorry for Tomb Raider fans, but Tomb Raider never has nor will it ever sell consoles."
I seem to remember it shifted a HECK of a lot of PSOnes in Europe.
@SuperKMx fair enough, what about after that though, the first one, yes, but after that it hasn't. It never shifted any Xbox 360 or PS3, or even PS2.
@SuperKMx
Yes but Tomb Raider wasn't just an Uncharted clone then
I think people are waiting for that fallout 4 announcement. That's what people want to hear is Fallout 4 or Skyrim 2.
@demi_god Skyrim 2 wouldn't be called that. It'd be named after the region of the new area. I'm hoping for Elsywer.
Sony's problem is that they heavily focus way too much on indies and remastered last gen games. Some nice indie games but not a reason why I have a PS4. No mention of vita games and no crash bandicoot once more. I said the other day I wouldn't get my hopes up and what do you know, I was right. This gamecom was just meh like E3. I'm starting to believe that sony has truly lost it.
Sony should be ashamed at how terrible Gamescon was for them. Very, very mediocre.
I was excited by Wild and Rime, Hellblade looked cool. Until Dawn, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter looked fun. Tearaway and LBP3 looked like fun games for the kids and for me. I saw a lot of cool games. I was not blown away by anything shown, though. Nothing left me awestruck like the Zelda trailer at this years E3.
Still, I am jubilant at owning a PS4 now, to go along with my Wii U. I get to have the bleeding edge games running on the most powerful home console as well as the surefire fun that Nintendo consoles always provide.
I thought things would be cheerier coming over to this Playstation site after spending years reading the doom and gloom on the Nintendolife comment sections. Sony seems to be winning this generation hands down so far. But there are just as many doom and gloomers here as there are over there. It's amusing. I am just going to sit back and enjoy all the great games I and my family will be getting to play this console generation.
@Heavyman99 God no, please give me some summerset isles! Altmer pussy!
Rime looked great, and was pleasantly suprised by the new Tearaway as I thought that game was fantastic on the vita (genuinely excited about that as it came out of nowhere). The rest didn't really do it for me, I would have liked to see more of Bloodborne, Uncharted etc.
Microsoft had more that interested me personally and I just thought their presentations just had a bit more wow factor to it (apart from that god awful Evolve presentation.... J Party??! Please....). Sunset overdrive, ori, quantum break, below, forza horizon 2, halo mc collection and tomb raider (the annoucement itself) all looked great.
I think that Sony has some strong titles coming but they didn't make enough of Gamescom for me - that cold war minecraft game confused the hell out of me and I was just sitting thinking wtf...where is more info about the AAA exclusives.
Quite surprised how negative things are in. The reception around the web — now I've had chance to digest it — has been pretty good. Oh well, can't please everyone.
@get2sammyb Just started watching looks like theres a lot of interesting things
wow 10/10 bloodborne I ll leave it there
It was a decent show from Sony. A wide variety of games and lots more indies . The thing that surprised me was there was no mention of GTA V or Minecraft and they are both supposed to release this year (Minecraft this month). Are there going to be more games delayed, who knows!
I didn't watch but the games are all pretty decent with the exception of hollow point. Wild got my vote. Not great but not bad at all from Sony.
@fit6958 as I understand looks like there no Uncharted trailer either and ND said we ll see something soon so Im guessing there s more trailers on the way
I'm still trying to catch up on what I missed, but it doesn't seem too good. If you're already happy with your PS4 I'm sure it was probably decent, but for people who are still on the fence about purchasing one or starting to regret buying it, I don't think they showed much that would change people's minds.
@get2sammyb far too much whining, its a little pathetic, the only reasonable gripe is the lack of vita support
@Storytime7 I never understand people supposedly making their mind on shows like these.. They just show a glimpse,
The grass always appears to be greener on the other side of the fence. Maybe it is sometimes, perhaps today it actually was but on those occasions you have to resist being a fanboy about it and instead view it honestly and objectively before just moving on.
I really don't get how people can be severely disappointed. What did you expect? ;/
I didn't watch the conferences for any company, but the games revealed look good for the most part. Does anyone know if Nintendo is doing an event with reveals or anything?

@Heavyman99 It doesn't matter what it's called, it's the point of it that I'm getting at here. lol
@Scollurio Some people were expecting an E3 V2.0 & what we got was a Gamescom conference instead. Sony tend to focus on the smaller offerings at Gamescom which meant much disappointment for the blockbuster/AAA lovers. Roll on TGS so we can see what developers in the east are getting up to on Ps4
@MadchesterManc I couldn't agree more. And there were obviously some genres that Sony missed with the games they showed, so the people who are only in love with those genres feel jaded. Sure I didn't see much that excited me, but I'm not going to call Sony "awful" because of it. I'm sure I'll see more in the future that shows me what I'm looking for... like TGS.
@MadchesterManc
Well, we know the f**kers at SE won't have anything good so that's one company to cross off the list (and I seriously hope every PS4 game they release from today onward is a massive fail and loss of money for them. Gauge the PS4 fanbase for money, have the most success there then give them the middle finger for a moneyhat, absolute bs). Would be nice to see Platinum bring a PS4 game.
@Cowboysfan-22 I like your comment. Even though it wasn't a great show for you, you can see sense and not blind rage.
http://www.vg247.com/2014/08/13/vita-games-papers-please-starbound-broforce/ gamescom is longer than 1 hour 10 minutes and vita is not "dead". So much complaining. Makes me sick. I guess I might as well not bother setting up my own independent games company.
@MoleZandor just went on your link, my faith is restored
@danny2kd Glad I could be of assistance.
Wild looks stunning. As for Vita being able to play GTA online anywhere is gaming nirvana for me.
I don't give a damn about PS4,so this show was just plain terrible to me. If only the Vita had more prescence.
Great minds and all that.

@Sanquine I worry for you sometimes with lines like that!
