Hohokum PS4

New titles typically steer clear of E3 in fear of having the spotlight taken off them, but there’s no such luxury during Gamescom. Despite the fact that the industry is slowly descending upon Germany as we type, there’ll be no rest for our ragtag group of reviewers, as the release calendar is practically stacked with new content this time around. Indeed, we get the impression that the summer’s slowly coming to a close, as there are some heavy hitters here, such as Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed and Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition. We’re saving our ‘Pick of the Week’ for a certain first-party favourite, however.

Pick of the Week: Hohokum

We’ve played Hohokum a handful of times here at Push Square Towers, and we’re still not 100 per cent convinced that we can explain what it’s actually all about. Part of the reason for that’s due to developer Honeyslug’s reluctance to disclose, well, anything about it; we played the bizarre indie adventure right next to co-founder Ricky Haggett, and he still refused to tell us what we’re supposed to do.

However, we get the feeling that that’s because the team’s harbouring some pretty big secrets. The demo we played saw us controlling a kite thing around a colourful funfair-esque environment, but there have been teases that there’s more to the title than that. For the intrigue alone – and because Frobisher Says rocked – this is the release that we’re most eager to get our hands on this week.
