You didn’t think that we were going to sign off without one final The Last of Us Remastered story, did you? As part of today’s big blowout, Sony has confirmed that there’ll be no discount for existing owners of Naughty Dog’s survival horror opus looking to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version – despite the developer itself indicating that it was exploring the idea earlier in the year.
“Alas, there is no upgrade discount,” blog manager Fred Dutton wrote on the platform holder’s official website. This is obviously disappointing, but it is worth remembering that the release has been reduced ahead of release. In fact, if you’re in the UK, you can currently pre-order the upgraded adventure for less than £30, which is probably the best price in Britain right now.
This is no ordinary re-release either, as it’s been handled internally by the Uncharted outfit. In addition to significantly overhauled visuals, the title also boasts developer commentary, DualShock 4 features, and every piece of downloadable content deployed to date. The question is: are you in – or do you think that the studio’s standing on mighty thin ice? Let us know in the comments section below.

I didn't buy it last-gen. So, too bad for those who did? Personally, I can't wait for this game. It's still going to be a must buy for PS4 owners. http://www.worldsfactory.net/2014/07/16/tlou-remastered-gets-screenshot-tool
Don't worry @get2sammyb, I got the thin ice reference.
Just in case you were thinking it was too obscure
Anyway, I don't mind, since I bought it second-hand last time.
ND never got my money, so I can give them it this time while still not supporting endless re-releases because i didn't buy it new the first time!
Hmm... I'm not confident in that logic...
@RaymanFan2
Well considering that I bought the game digitally, and the DLC, I do feel like it was really lame of Sony not to give me a discount.

Oh well, I suppose I can get it when it's in the bargain bin. Or I can get it used later. I hope people who never played it enjoy themselves though! They are in for a treat!
More virus news about The Last of Us, eh... I think that won't stop untill release =(. Nice marketing, Sony. The Last of Us this, The last of US that.
Ill pay full for it gladly. They dont have to give a discount on it although it would have been nice.
Still, £40 is nothing for this game!
As much as i love the game without discount i will most definitely pass. For those who came from xbox and those who never played, those are the people who will benefit. I am happy they will have a chance to experience TLoU and have no doubt most will enjoy thoroughly.
It can't be for nothing ;P
Anyone actually used Gamestop for preorders in the past? I did a bit of googling and some of the reviews (a large amount....) were really poor, really put me off.
I played the hell out of this on PS3 and will do so again on PS4, pre-ordered it digitally on the PSN store for 44,90 Euro and I am gladly paying twice for an awesome game, rather than pay half of that for a crap game!
@N711 I see what you did there.
A discount is nice if it's offered, but it shouldn't be an expectation. Several other games have done this without discount, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
It would of been a nice gesture but no one should feel that they are entitled to a discount.
@get2sammyb @N711
Well played.
If you shop around, you can get it cheap enough. Ive seen it going for £29.97 the other day. Gonna be waiting a bit myself tho before i pick up the remaster, didn't really think it was much cop the first time, but ill give it another try & Ive preorderd Metro Redux instead.
I'm okay, already played it so that's enough for me. Lots of new players get to play it, so that's good. And Sony makes cash on it too, win/win.
I think its quite alright there isnt a discount offered to previous owners of the game because this game is already discounted before hitting market. In my local EBGAMES(Canadian equiviliant of gamestop or GAME) the purchase price is $55 as opposed to the standard $70 before taxes. So it is still cheaper. For someone like me who didnt end up playing it on PS3(just way too big of a backlog) this is amazing because I get to buy it for what it would have cost me to buy it on PS3 last year an I get the quality of the PS4 re-release. Bliss....
