Mortal Kombat X PS4

If you were worried that Mortal Kombat X would be more of a retread than a revolution, then toss your doubts out of the ring: NetherRealm Studios’ head honcho Ed Boon has confirmed that a chunk of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 fighter’s roster will be revealed at E3 2014 next week – and two new warriors will be entering the blood thirsty fray.

In addition to the fresh challengers, the excitable executive also hinted that the big show will play host to plot details – which purportedly picks up directly after the previous game – as well as some gameplay footage. We’ve heard on the grapevine that this will be appearing during Sony’s press conference, but we’re not sure how accurate those rumours are.

It would make sense for the platform holder to partner with the fighter, though. In addition to its existing ties with Warner Bros, the firm was a big proponent of the previous Mortal Kombat – even working with the developer to include anti-hero Kratos in the roster. Moreover, Injustice: Gods Among Us launched as a next-gen exclusive on Sony’s machine, suggesting that the firms have some kind of deal in place.
