Now that Tiger Woods is no longer on the box, it seems that EA Sports has been given the creative freedom to go a little bonkers with its first next-gen golf simulation. Indeed, the boringly named PGA Tour's first trailer shows a combination of famous courses and fantasy ones – including one which takes place near to a shipwrecked battleship. You didn’t see that one coming, did you?
The next-gen release will deploy next spring, and will be powered by DICE’s proprietary Frostbite 3 engine, which sort of makes sense considering all of the explosions and pyrotechnics. Seriously, we’re not sure who came up with this bonkers concept, but it’s definitely going to fill the PlayStation 4’s gaping Hot Shots Golf shaped hole.

Next gen golf, looks great. Fantasy courses are immense
@Mrskinner Agreed, this is the best thing I've seen at E3 so far... Genuinely mean that...
@get2sammyb Deffo, I'm hoping today has just been a slow day so far! This does look really nice though. Can't wait to get into this. Used to love the tiger woods games, but the fantasy courses make it even better. The engine is looking great too. I have been hyped over some announcements at e3 only to realise there is no real announcement. Gameplay has been of a minimum across the board so far.
@get2sammyb I'll probably end up buying this and the golf club thingy too. I'm skipping Fifa 15 so I can justify it.
