Brave new world

Between unexpected Alpha tests and exclusive content, Sony doesn’t want you to play Bungie’s multiformat first-person shooter Destiny on any platform other than PlayStation. However, the consumers in Japan won’t have a choice, as the intergalactic escapade will deploy as an exclusive for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 3.

While it’s worth noting that the Xbox One won’t even be available in the East until a week or so prior to the futuristic foray’s release, the Japanese giant is actually publishing the game in the region, which is really rather weird when you consider the developer’s age old ties to Microsoft via the Halo franchise.

Of course, it’s probably worth remembering that this is unlikely to set the sales charts alight. While franchises such as Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto have increased in popularity in the Land of the Rising Sun, they’re still not big hardware movers like they are in the West. As such, while it’s a nice coup for the platform holder, we doubt that it’s going to give either of its consoles a major boost.
