Fishnets were always in fashion

The indie scene on Sony's consoles is flourishing, with more unique and interesting games being added every week – but the same can't be said for titles made by Japan's smaller development teams. We could, however, be seeing the arrival of more bizarre releases in the future, following the announcement of Eiyuu Senki - The World Conquest for the PlayStation 3 in North America and Europe. This tactical role-playing game developed by new studio TENCO features famous historical figures portrayed as females, battling against each other for world domination. Yes, you did read that correctly.

You play as a young maiden who has lost her memory, and is caught in the midst of a battle that's ripping the world to pieces. Finding an ally in the hero Himiko, they both embark on a political solution to end the war once and for all, most likely with a bit of brute force thrown in for good measure. All of the heroines in the game are designed by professional artists including Oyari Ashito, who can be found on a certain popular art site if you are interested in seeing more of his, er, saucy work.

With so many titles able to be brought over, publisher Fruitbat Factory didn't choose this release on a mere whim. Having successfully deployed numerous Japanese indie titles for the PC – including on Steam – it wanted to make its way into the home console market. Head of the project Jakke Elonen stated: “As long-time fans of tactical RPGs, we’re very excited to get to work on this title, which we've seen many fans wishing to be localised.” Are you eager to see more niche games arrive overseas?
