Ace Combat: Infinity May Be the Most Intense Free-to-Play Game Yet

Flying high

Free-to-play may be fraught with peril, but that doesn't mean that there's no fun to be had. Ace Combat: Infinity, the newest entry in the long running flight sim series, sees you taking to the skies on your PlayStation 3 without paying a single cent. In order to give the title a boost, developer Project Aces has released this brand new trailer that demonstrates its dastardly dogfights.

The clip shows off a wide variety of flashy planes, as well as other assorted aerial accoutrements. Oh, and did we mention that it features a deliciously melodramatic voiceover? Because it does, and it's absolutely brilliant. Bandai Namco has also announced that the sharp shooter will be taking flight in Japan on 20th May, so we suspect that a Western release won't be too far behind.

Do you like the look of this slick shmup, or would you prefer it to adopt a more traditional costing model? Crash land in the comments section below.

It's to bad it is a free to play. I wanted to get the Assault Horizon but that helicopter mission in the demo kept me away and I was not a fan of dogfight mode.

I hated the helicopter mission(s) in Horizon and stopped playing because of it. It destroyed the game!
