Batman: Arkham Origins was a fine entry in Rocksteady’s superhero series – but it was a stopgap between something bigger. For starters, the aforementioned British developer was not involved in the title’s production, as it was instead farmed out to relatively new studio Warner Bros Montreal. Despite that, we know that the London-based company has been busying itself with something special in the years since Batman: Arkham City’s release – and we could be about to find out exactly what.
As spotted on NeoGAF, retailer GameStop received a new package of marketing materials this week, all promoting a Batman-themed title. While it’s possible that these could be related to previous products or the upcoming PlayStation 3 port of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, we’re going to go out on a limb and suggest that that’s unlikely. This fiery twist on the series’ now famous logo appears to be taken from something new, and it’s not the only indication we have that a sequel’s on the way.
Earlier in the year, a Dutch journalist mentioned that he had attended an event at Rocksteady, but he wasn’t allowed to share any details until March. Similarly, the UK edition of Official PlayStation Magazine has been teasing a big upcoming feature, supposedly relating to a series of “significant importance” on the PS4. To add to the intrigue, GameStop owned publication Game Informer tends to reveal its new cover stories at the start of every month, with fresh titles often revealed. Can anyone else sense the enormous Bat Signal in the sky?
It’s all speculation for now, of course, but we suspect that we’ll be catching a glimpse of the Caped Crusader as he looks on next generation hardware over the coming days. Are you still in the market for more of the Dark Knight, or are you starting to feel the pangs of franchise fatigue? Riddle us this in the comments section below.

I've only ever played blackgate on vita so I'd love something for ps3. Not sure I can be bothered playing arkham asylum or city or origins. Would be a nice surprise for it to be out this year.
Exciting times indeed!
Didn't Kevin Conroy slip up awhile ago and said that he was working on the next Arkham game which people took as Origins? Or maybe an Arkham collection for PS4?
@Tasuki I was about to say just that.
If it is a new Batman game, I hope well be able to play as Batgirl and/or Nightwing in-game and not as DLC.
@RyoHazuki You need to play Asylum and City, you won't regret it.
@Tasuki Yeh he let slip he was working on the next Arkham, his comment was removed not long after someone pointed out he wasn't in the Arkham Origins cast list.
@BornOfEvil I can't remember where I read it for the life of me but there is a chance (I don't want to get my hopes up either.) they will be. I am a massive Batman comic fan and the games take from a massive source of every iteration of "The Freaking Bat!" you can think of.
The inclusion of Hush in Arkham City interested me intensely, as the comic he comes from is a very personal and dark story for Bruce aswell as Batman. The plot involves so many characters it is almost mind boggling. Remember at the end of Arkham City you hear some thugs talk about how Roman Sionis (Black Mask) blew a hole to the sewers and escaped Arkham. Also the Falcones have left and Penguin is mysteriously missing after The Museum/Iceberg Lounge is destroyed. Well in comic storylines they all did this together in order to take over Bludhaven (Nightwing patrols here.) Also, Hush and The Riddler and Scarecrow team up together to take down Bruce Wayne and Batman at the same time. Leading to the link in Identity between Bruce and Bats. It is scary to think how they might mash all this together along with what they have done to Joker as he was in the Hush Storyline in the comics. I'm just very excited. Sorry.
Very nice. Now THIS is what I'm interested in. Games like this. All that other stuff? Knack, Killzone, Infamous... nah nah nah. Gimme some Witcher 3, some Batman Arkham Next, some Final Fantasy 15, go ahead and port an Uncharted Collection and Batman Arkham Collection while you're at it- those I will buy.
@Axel210 sounds awesome. Glad to hear they're so canonical. My nerd focus turned from Batman to Star Wars pretty young, but I really wish I'd been able to get (any good) comics where I lived for cheaper than collectors prices
@RyoHazuki you mean you can't be bothered to play what is considered to be two of the best games of the last generation? Dude. Maybe this video game malarkey isn't for you. I hear Legos are fun...
@JaxonH also, to get us hyped, they started doling out Now beta access codes today : ) can't wait to try that s*** out!
@charlesnarles dude... trades on amazon are cheap! Just sayin'!
@charlesnarles I just got lucky as a kid and had an uncle who happened to adore Batman so taught me to love him at an early age. Passed all his comics to me when i was about 10. Since then I have had a bit of an obsession with Batman. I could also blame the same Uncle for my love of gaming come to think of it.
Hype. I loved Asylum, City, and Origins, so this is great news. A new Batman game this year would be great. Lets hope it's next gen only and not cross-gen. Just think of what they could do with the power.
Apparently thay've been working on it since thay finished City, I did read you be hearing somethings soon also.
@RawShark I just didn't really get into the ps3 gen is all
Arkham Country?
Arkham Continent?
Planet Arkham?
Feb was a pretty slow month for game news - Skylanders 4 wasnt even announced at the toy fair - so maybe Mar will have a few things, they cant hold everything back until June.
@Axel210 I would love it if they did that
actually I would just love a new arkham game anyway
