It may not be setting the sales charts alight, but the PlayStation Vita is continuing to sell reasonably well in its native Japan. This week’s Media Create update has pegged the portable’s sales at 31,325 units, an increase of approximately 10,000 units over the previously tracked period. The platform was propelled in part by the release of Soul Sacrifice Delta, which topped the charts with 48,786 units.
Still, while Sony will be pleased to see its struggling handheld starting to settle, it may be a little more concerned by the current state of the PlayStation 4. After a reasonable start, the next-gen system slipped to just 35,294 units this week, and with only Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on the horizon, we sense that it may dip lower yet.
Of course, this supports the suggestion that Japan may not be especially interested in playing home consoles anymore, which perhaps justifies the platform holder’s decision to launch the device in the West first. We’ve included the full list of best-sellers below. What do you make of the current gaming landscape in the East? Pretend to be Michael Pachter in the comments section.

I really want soul sacrifice delta
Please make it happen...
Oh well until ffxv is coming ps4 will surely doomed. Guess its a right decision to left japan in the last region
@divinelite I'd be surprised if it didn't come out over here.
@get2sammyb then again no date is given for god eater 2. Maybe they want to wait god eater 2 burst like mh4u?
Waiting all day for nintendolife to show the weekly charts and look at that, guess everyone who wants a ps4 pretty much got it at launch. But it still knocked the 3ds off the top spot
Poor WiiU
Look at all those 3DS games that are region exclusive -_-
Down with 3DS region block!
Isn't Soul Sacrifice that game that plays like Monster Hunter or am I taking of something else?
@Tsuzura ppl compere the 2 allot but there not alike - thay play allot difrntly to etchother i like both but personly prefer MH.
@Volmun
Ah.
When I play Monster Hunter it makes me want to play Phantasy Star Online
I hope Sony soon announce the release of Soul Sacrifice Delta in the West since I wanna play the game now

ORLY? Why can't you simply state the obvious truth? There are no games for the PS4. Not even for the west. How the hell is it supposed to sell? You thing Japan cares for the likes of Battlefield 4, Lego Marvel or NBA 2K14??? There aren't any titles the Japanese gamer would like.
Assassin's Creed 4
Battlefield 4
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Doki-Doki Universe
Dream Club: Host Girls on Stage
Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends
FIFA 14
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn beta
Hohokum
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Knack
Natural Doctrine
Puzzle 4 Sudoku
Tottemo E Mahjong Plus
Resogun
Strider
Yakuza: Restoration
Not a single AAA Japanese oriented tiltle in there. None. Even if I was in Japan I wouldn't buy a PS4 when the PS3 has so many great games coming out. Hell even the Vita has better games than the PS4.
Besides that US and EU buyers are not as aware as the Japanese are. We are more impulse buyers than anything else. Speak the truth for once.
Any chance SSD could be skipped in the west in favor of day and date localization of the proper SS2 that Inafune has said is in the works.
The 63DS? Is that a new model? Are the graphics finally almost as good as the N64?
PS4 looks kinda sad in Japan T_T
@CanisWolfred You didn't heard about it? Its the new Nintendo's next gen handhelf with 31 Stereoptic 3D touch screens and 32 buttons.
PS4 will drop to Wii U numbers or worse in no time, there is really nothing for the Japanese market.
Honestly, there's nothing on the PS4 I want right now. It's kind of lacking in the game department more than I expected it to. Indies are great but it needs to be more of a balance. Isn't Persona 5 coming out on PS3? They're not really giving anyone a reason to upgrade right now.
Ffxv cant come sooner
