Mortal Kombat

It’s a good thing that 24 lead Kiefer Sutherland has plenty of practice playing Jack Bauer, because the actor may need to call upon his experience portraying the intrepid action hero in order to escape NetherRealm Studios’ in-house ninjas. Despite the developer being pretty silent since the release of superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us, the Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes star has hinted that he's set to appear in a new Mortal Kombat title.

Speaking about his role as Big Boss, the actor revealed that he’s been working on Konami’s franchise for over a year, but his part in the abovementioned unannounced punch-'em-up was over “pretty quickly”. He told IGN: "I did Mortal Kombat, and that's such a huge game, but it's so not like [Metal Gear Solid].” In addition to appearing in Kojima Productions’ imminent prologue, the performer will also play the eye-patched protagonist in full sequel Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

However, it’s unclear who he’ll voice in Ed Boon’s next brawler. There’s some speculation that he may play Snake there, too, as part of some kind of brand crossover. That certainly seems possible, seeing as gobby God of War anti-hero Kratos appeared in the last iteration of the fighting franchise.
