New Gran Turismo 6 Update Gives You a Free Car on Your Birthday

Posted by Nicola Hayden

Sadly it isn't real

After a long wait for first-party racer Gran Turismo 6, Sony has been keeping the newest member of the franchise fresh with a wave of constant updates. One of the latest additions shows just how much it cares for its fans in the form of a birthday present. On the week around your birthday, you will be gifted an in-game car that was originally manufactured around the year of your birth. While you may not get the swankiest new model, everyone loves free stuff.

It isn't all about complimentary swag, though, with numerous updates added to the campaign modes, too. The second half of the 'Red Bull X Challenge' has been implemented, letting you get personal driving lessons from world champion Sebastian Vettel in an authentic Formula car. There are two new seasonal events as well, allowing you to get your hands on some exclusive cars. First up is an alternate version of the 'Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo', and the other – the 'Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo Concept' – is a vehicle that was first displayed at the 2013 SEMA show. However, you'll need to be quick if you want to put your foot down, as these will only be available for a limited time.

Actually the Vettel cars are not formula one but the Redbull-GranTurismo co-developed X-racer in the latest 2014 model. Also the corvette concept is a LM-car. Just for those that care! ;)

Gran Turismo 6 was released on my birthday so will have to wait till next year to get car from the seventies. I like the Stingray Gran Turismo concept but I think the wing/spoiler is just for looks. I must say the the Red Bull X cars sound so much better than the GT5 ones that are to high pitched with little to no mid and low end notes.

@Scollurio Yeah me too. I see this new update put information in the dealership now with a quick look you will know if a car has a detailed cockpit and simple. Out of all the things that are good about GT6 the "simple" cockpit is a black mark.
