How Does the Vita Version of Final Fantasy X HD Remaster Compare to PS3?

Posted by Sammy Barker

Gatta get the right one

Square Enix’s upcoming high-definition compilation Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is set to weep on both the PlayStation 3 and Vita later this year – but you may be wondering which version to buy? While the portability of Sony’s diminutive device may find you coveting the handheld release, there has been some concern that it may struggle to stack up in the visuals department.

Fortunately, that’s not the case, as evidenced by this brand new side-by-side comparison. The footage shows direct capture from a PS3 compared to a PS Vita TV peripheral, and reveals some minor texture differences, but nothing major. As a result, you can pretty much count on this looking stellar on the portable’s OLED display. Which system will you be purchasing the role-playing package on? @Sanquine Same, it looks great. The ground textures aren't quite as good, but I'm sure it will pop just as well on the OLED screen. I must admit, they had the PS3 version of this running at Eurogamer Expo and it surprised me by how good it looks. Definitely one of the better HD remasters.

I'm getting the Vita version, FFX always felt like it'd be wonderful on a handheld.

@get2sammyb The problem I have is that the Vita OLED doesn't quite pop so much for me as it does for most people as my TV has a good IPS panel in it so the PQ on that is much better. The OLED factor is kinda moot for me when deciding between Ps3/Vita versions. Still probably get Vita first tho for portability but I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't try on Ps3 too. Good old cross-save thankfully

@ztpayne7 Yeah, that's very true. It's been in development an eternity. I promise it does look really good, though.

@MadchesterManc It's a shame there's not some kind of bundle for folks who want both versions.

I can't choose just because I only have psvita. If there will be a game only on ps4 or vita I'll be confused

Hint: version of mighty no 9

This is my most anticipated Vita title(s) for this year so far. It's a shame that there are NO SKIPPING CUTSCENES!!
