While consumer electronics convention CES tends to focus on televisions and tablets, there is undeniably some overlap with the gaming industry. In addition to tennis sensors and short throw projectors, Sony’s show booth at this year's event has a couple of games available for attendees to try – including hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son.
Embedded below is a full run through of a night-time mission in Seattle, which sees arrogant anti-hero Delsin Rowe picking off DUP agents using a combination of smoke and neon powers. We still don’t reckon that this is a franchise that excels in short demos, purely because Sucker Punch’s superhero series tends to shine when you’ve learned all of the controls. Still, it looks pretty, huh?

Finally, real next gen! Open world next gen:D
The best looking Next gen game thus far. Action looks on point too.
Wow, that was dull.
@KALofKRYPTON I agree, but I really believe it's a case of the control learning curve proving problematic in a 10 minute demo. When you're tossed into a game like this, it's all too easy to spam the same attacks to get through it. I imagine when the full game's out, you'll be able to get creative in combat by mixing up many different moves. At least, I hope so...
The Last of Us didn't look that good in a demo either. I'm still confident this will be fantastic.
@get2sammyb Greg Miller and Scott Lowe from IGN tried the game out at Sony for an extended period of time and both were extremely impressed.
@get2sammyb @KALofKRYPTON If this is dull, then what is not dull? O___o
@Gemuarto It's not the game that's dull, in my opinion, just the way it's being played in this demo. And that's fine - I get that when you're on a busy show floor trying to shoot footage it can be hard to try and play 'creatively'. This is why developers release 'official' playthroughs - because they understand the mechanics and can show them off better.
@Gemuarto @get2sammyb
Looks like a pretty 3rd person run & gunner. Nothing wrong with that, but, underwhelming gameplay- admittedly that's mostly down to the player as Sammy suggests, but yeah.
To quote a very good article on the development of the GameCube linked from Kotaku:
"On May 16th, 2001, Satoru Iwata, director of Nintendo’s strategic planning, explained to reporters how graphics are now reaching diminishing returns. ”There is not much more developers can do to impress players only with pictures. The hardest thing is to entertain,”"
@Alex840
The Last of Us demos have bags of atmosphere, the aesthetic of the game lends itself to voyeurism quite well, like Uncharted Red Dead did before it.
I'm not saying Second Son is going to be bad or is going to suck etc. But there's nothing in the video that makes me think I need it in my life.
Watch Dogs looks a lot better.
@KALofKRYPTON Everything we've seen of Watch Dogs has been displayed by the developers, while we haven't seen one video of a developer playing Second Son.
*sighs
I am aware - but this video, this ten minutes of gameplay, is as dull as dishwater. The same/similar segment has been shown off before- played with flair. But THIS VIDEO IS DULL.
Yeah we need to see an official playthrough rather than ten minutes of gameplay from a guy who seemingly hasn't had time to work out the mechanics.
But yeah, not a great video when it comes to showing the game off. Just makes it look like a third person shooter with traversal aspects. Then again, to be fair, that's basically what inFamous is.
@KALofKRYPTON
We've only seen ten minutes of gameplay which meny of us have seen before, come back after you've actually played the game.
@banacheck Dial down the flames, read my posts properly and appreciate some context.
@ShogunRok Infamous is more platformer for adults, than TPS =(.
I seen that section before
Was that video dull? Yes! Do I still want to play this game? Yes!! Gemuarto please read comments properly.
@cherrypoppa Was that video dull? No. Do I still want to play this game? Yes!!! cherrypoppa please read commets properly.
I think it depends on how you watch videos, man. I watched it and was exited. Because I imagined how those moves will work for me, I liked graphics and animation. Especially when Delsin pushed by blast wave - so cool... Guys in Sucker Punch really made a great job . Second Son is more smooth and fluid than Infamous 2. And has more creative and interesting moves, too. But I didin't watch previous videos, so maybe I was exited because of that. And I think it's always better to see how normal people play, than developers. Maybe it was dull, but I didin't feel that.
