With our resident Dynasty Warriors aficionado Robert Ramsey now officially taking time out to celebrate the season, the axe has fallen upon this puzzled author to try and make sense of the series’ latest trailer. Hot on the heels of the confirmation that PlayStation 4 entry Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition will be heading overseas, Koei has deployed a brand new trailer, which you’ll find embedded below.
The footage itself shows several overdressed warriors chopping through throngs of peons with oversized weapons. It looks like more of the same from where we’re sitting, but we’re sure that those well versed in the franchise’s intricacies will be able to pick out some of the differences. The title’s set to cut onto Sony’s next generation system on 22nd February in Japan, and sometime in the Spring overseas. We’re fresh out of puns, so feel free to insert your own here.

It looks good but I can see that they still haven't fixed the troops AI -_-
Isn't this Dynasty Warriors 7? Or does it 8 overseas?
Also, still can't see one million troops. Need to wait for Playstation 5.
@Gemuarto It's Dynasty Warriors 8 + Xtreme Legends both on the same disk. Basically a port of DW8 that released on Ps3 earlier in the year with more content
@MadchesterManc @Gemuarto Yeah that's it. But in Japan it's Shin Sangokumusou 7 - they're one number behind.
@get2sammyb YES, name-dropped!
@ShogunRok I take it they don't regard the Dynasty Warriors fighting game we had on Ps1 as entry in the series like what was done on out shores?
Agree with screenshot, though. Sad about Link absence. Maybe they need to add Drake.
@MadchesterManc Yeah I think that's right. So Japan considers what was named Dynasty Warriors 2 over here to be the first true title in the series. I guess they slapped a 2 on it over here so it appeared more impressive?
