PlayStation 4

There’s a good chance that the PlayStation Network will keel over again this week, as the PlayStation 4 deploys across parts of Europe. In order to avoid launch day disappointment, you may want to consider downloading the system’s latest firmware update prior to the platform’s release this Friday. According to SCEE community manager Chris Owen, the latest patch will be available to snag from the PlayStation Europe website from lunchtime on 28th November – a full twelve hours before the system officially arrives.

“Those wanting to pre-download firmware v1.51 in preparation for the PS4 launch,” he Tweeted. “It'll be live on [the PlayStation Europe website] on Thursday lunchtime.” Owen added that it’s best to use the firmware for your own region, meaning that if you’ve already downloaded the North American version in anticipation for this week’s release, you may want to purge that and replace it with the European update. For those out of the loop, the latest firmware adds a slew of key features to the system, in addition to software stability and some user interface improvements.
