Imagine eagerly awaiting the reveal of a certain Persona 5, only to be shown the craziness that is Persona 4 Dancing All Night. Regardless of fans' disappointment at the time, this rhythm game has already got us grooving in the office. The dance-'em-up is set to spin into Japan in Autumn 2014 as a PlayStation Vita exclusive.
In a bizarre way, it almost seems like a logical step in a new direction for Persona 4 – after all, the title's soundtrack is stunningly good, and its enigmatic art style should provide some luscious eye candy. Meanwhile the game's trailer – which is suitably insane – features squealing voices, plenty of hilarious Engrish, and the lovely Risette, of course. Are you already twirling in excitement? Who? What?

@Legendaryboss lol. I think it looks amazing.
That trailer is possibly the best that I've ever seen.
Seriously if you're just browsing this article quickly, I implore you to give it a watch.
Everytime I feel sad about my English pronounciation, I just need to watch one of these trailers or anime to cheer me up xD
@ShogunRok @get2sammyb I watched the stream and i am disappointed for two reasons.
1. The SEGA Influence is alive and well i see, 3DS gets the better game (Nothing to preach about) and the PS Vita gets a dancing game. That looks too similar to SEGA's game output if you ask me.
2. Who? What? Why? Persona 5 Golden?
SEGA -> Miku & Project 575 (both rhythm games) for Vita; super deformed (aka chibi) version of Miku for 3DS.
Atlus -> Persona & rhythm Persona for Vita; super deformed version of Persona for 3DS.
It's amusing how people are more accepting of this when it's basically the same game that Project Diva F was
Looks good though
@MadchesterManc BUT IT HAS RISE!
@MadchesterManc I'm not fully familiar with either franchise, but I prefer the music in this.
@MadchesterManc Sam has a point, as well as the fact that Persona 4 isn't as heavily female-centric as Diva F. Not saying guys can't enjoy Vocaloid, just saying it's something that obviously has more appeal to women in the West than Western men. Persona 4 is just an overall classic for any gender.
Won't stop me from (likely) getting both anyways
@get2sammyb No doubt. I'm just pointing out that this seems to be getting judged by different standards to Project Diva when it the same game just because it's Persona 4. Apparently some of the devs have even worked on Project Diva which makes it more amusing from the point of view of someone who enjoys the Project Diva games and has had to watch them get trashed by the mainstream press in the west. Double standards are a scourge after all
It was definitely surprising to see the 3DS get a persona title. It doesn't seem right. But I'm just glad I have a 3DS so I can have something to enjoy until P5 comes out. Sorry but I don't think I'll be picking up this dancing game even though P4's soundtrack is one of my favorites of all time
It has RYSE Oh no its Rise
Anyway I found project diva is more interesting but if it ever come to localised I'll buy in heartbeat
For project diva... It's day one import all the time
And double dip for localisation
Woah, is "Engrish" p.c.? : [
@get2sammyb Same here. Project Diva? Fun stuff. The Vocaloid music? Murder to my ears. I'll take this over that any day.
@Cowboysfan-22 In what way was it surprising? If we want the series to survive it's going to have to be on more than PlayStation, especially outside of Japan.
@ShogunRok If they ever bring back Banzai then the voiceover guy in this video HAS to be on it. His perfect job.
@Legendaryboss How does the 3DS have the better game? The rhythm action game has me more excited than the 3DS spin off (also looking brilliant). And all well and good whinging about "Sega influence" but no Sega, no Atlus. That simple.
@MadchesterManc People don't like what they don't know, sadly. Stick the name Call Of Duty on Project Diva f, change Miku into a generic soldier and the game would sell millions. Admittedly they'd likely be all returned to the shops too but it'd sell.
@rastamadeus because the series has been Sony exclusive (with P4A being the exception)... But then again P4A was also a spinoff so it's not that big of a deal... I just hope the gameplay is addictive like all of the other games. Quick question for everyone.. Is P4A worth playing? I've never been a fan of fighters but I'm itching for something Persona related I haven't played
.@Cowboysfan-22 Depends. Personally I found it to be an average fighter at best but if you want more Persona 4 it's all you've got at the minute
@rastamadeus Its a shame that's how the industry seems to be heading. Like you though this does interest me but Persona 4 is turning into something of a cash cow lately it's all I ever seem to hear about with regards Persona lol (even tho it's far from the best entry)
Yea that's all I want. I've seen mixed reviews about the story mode but since it's a continuation of P4 I'm very intrigued.
@MadchesterManc ^
@Cowboysfan-22 Have you played 3 to completion?
@Cowboysfan-22 We gave it a 9/10 - amazing visuals, music. Story is okay - it might rub some fans the wrong way a little but other than that it's hard not to appreciate the effort that's gone into it. In terms of gameplay it's absolutely solid. Accessible but deep, plenty of modes on offer, and the online is very stable from my experience.
@MadchesterManc I dont feel like dancing:P
@ShogunRok so the story is just ok? The only reason I'd buy it is the story. I've never been big into fighting games, but I can't get enough of Persona.. If the story could rub me the wrong way I don't know if I wanna try it. Such a tough decision!
@MadchesterManc yea I have. It's up there with 4 as some of my favorites of all time.
@Cowboysfan-22 Let's just say the story for P4A kinda takes a dump on what transpired at the end of P3. Probably the biggest gripe with it I had to be honest
@MadchesterManc haha. Wow that kinda sucks.. I wonder why they would do that? That ending was amazing..
@Cowboysfan-22 If you're in it purely for the story I wouldn't bother. We gave it a great score because of its aesthetics and its fantastic combat more than anything.
I'm a huge fan of the main Persona games, and the story didn't bother me that much - I didn't necessarily consider it to be canon either. I merely took it as an expansion on the universe. That said, I can see why people didn't like it on a more base level - it tends to drag on and on and on thanks to far too much dialogue, then you get one round per fight which is over far too quickly.
Here's a link to the review anyway:https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps3/persona_4_arena. I still stand by all the points I made - hopefully it's some help when it comes to making your decision.
@ShogunRok thanks for the help... I might give it a shot if I feel like I don't have anything else to play. At the moment I'm still breaking in my PS4 so I have a good reason not to play P4A. Haha
@ShogunRok I just read the review. I'm buying it. Haha. Why not? A game that's rated that high has to be worth 20 bucks.
@Cowboysfan-22 For $20? You could do a lot worse for that price. I hope you enjoy it!
I can imagine this being really good, and many people (especially but not exclusively in Japan) really getting into this. But it is just not me. Neither excited nor disappointed.
I always wanted something like this. Thank you Atlus! We get more remixes of the amazing Persona 4 soundtrack!
Now I just wait on a EU release
I feel like this game is a pretty good example of the devisiveness of Persona 4 between SMT fans and Persona fans lol. But whatever, a good game is a good game.
Gosh, the arguing! I'm just happy we're getting more Persona games. It wasn't like Persona was going to remain a PlayStation exclusive forever; Shin Megami Tensei has been on the Nintendo 3DS for a while already and so Persona Q isn't actually anything for people to cry over. The milk was spilled long ago. I'm buying a 3DS this Black Friday just for Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth. However, I'm pretty sure we're going to see more core Persona titles on the PS Vita in the future although I was aghast that Persona5 is a PS3 exclusive instead of releasing on both PS3 and PS Vita like Dragon's Crown. Heck, Vanillaware and Atlus won't forsake the PS Vita.
