As promised, the first of The Last of Us’ long-awaited expansion packs will step out of the shadows on 15th October in North America and 16th October in Europe. The add-on – dubbed the Abandoned Territories pack – will include four brand new multiplayer maps, each set in decayed areas of the title’s post-apocalyptic world.
You’ll be able to fight against fellow factions in a dynamic sandstorm on the Suburbs map, conquer a giraffe inhabited urban environment in the Bus Depot map, and stalk a twilight region in the Hometown map. Lastly, the Bookstore boasts a “stacked, bi-level layout adding a highly unique dose of vertical gameplay”.
Of course, the aforementioned maps represent just one third of the survival horror’s Season Pass. While a further multiplayer expansion is planned for next year, developer Naughty Dog has confirmed that more single player content is on the way. The studio’s just concluded a long casting process for a new character, and is set to start its performance capture shoot next week, with a December to January release in mind.
In order to make up for the wait, the company’s adding a couple of bonus items to the Season Pass. Those that own the DLC subscription will unlock access to sixty different head items, ranging from a Nightmare Mask to a Pigskin Hat. If you haven’t already purchased the post-release pledge, it can be bought for $19.99/€19.99.

I wanted single player content.
Rather upsetting news this not being SP content.
@Madd_Hatter401 @Splat It's coming in December/January.
@get2sammyb - It's crazy to me that they just got down casting and haven't even started the capture shoot yet...
Yeah my thoughts, at least no one can yell "cashmaking with content already done" - but I don't like the "all new character" part I was hoping for something related to Joel and Tess or something...
Yeah, the SP content was supposed to come first...
Oh well, I suppose I'd prefer quality over speed when it comes to all things TLoU, anyway.
With games like this, it really is all bout the SP, the world, the characters, their back stories, relationships, fighting to survive... I do get that its a much bigger investment to make SP though. But the MP is good, and at least one more installment of SP is coming.
