Industry giant Rockstar Games is aiming to deliver the biggest open world in its history with Grand Theft Auto V, so it’s not particularly surprising that the impending sequel will consume a sizeable chunk of your console’s hard drive. Writing on its official website, the developer confirmed that you’ll need 8GB of free space on your PlayStation 3 in order to play the game. As with most other releases, you’ll be able to boot the adventure as soon as this data has been installed.
Elsewhere in the post, the company confirmed that it’s set to release some gameplay footage of the sandbox thriller soon. “The first official gameplay video is on its way,” said a spokesperson, adding that the firm is also “very excited” to share multiplayer details later this summer. Should be on the PS4. That's all this says to me.
I must be one of the few people who isn't even interested in this game at all lol So is has and 8GB installation? really? Lets hope its not a 40 minute wait like GT5 I wonder how many disks the 360 version comes on then if just the installation on Ps3 is that big.

@get2sammyb makes me wonder how bad the xbox version is going to look without an install from both discs due to texture limitations.....LAWL DVD fail.
EDIT: nvm that 2nd disc is required to install...............WAIT, i thought microsoft fought to make mandatory installs not eligible on the 360........wow so that means GTAV is actually the first 360 game ever to make installing a mandatory just to play the game period.....damn
I skipped the last GTA but the size of the environment and playing as three characters has really peaked my interest in this one. I would have liked to have had one of the characters been a girl though. I think that would have been cool.
I would like to get it off PSN but if it takes 8 GB's with the disc what is it going to to take with out one?
@Splat Good question. It has to be a pretty hefty size.
@Splat If the Xbox 360 version is using 2 discs at ~8GB apiece, my guess is that it will be about a 16GB download. Not too bad?

@get2sammyb - Yeah, that wouldn't be too bad. If it's available day one digital and under 20 GB's that will probably be the way I go.
I really like too have open world games games downloaded since you can put so many hours in too them.
Still got 38 GB on my PS3 and preordered the collectors edition can't wait
