UK Sales Charts: The Last of Us Keeps Clicking at the Summit

Posted by Sammy Barker

The sky has turned grey

While we appreciate that we’re in the midst of the slow summer season, it’s pretty unprecedented for a PlayStation 3 exclusive to cling onto the UK sales charts top spot for longer than a week. But despite a slew of bad press over the past few days, The Last of Us has managed to do just that, holding onto its place atop the summit for a third successive week.

Joel and Ellie’s depressive plight managed to stave off the retail release of Minecraft on the Xbox 360, in addition to Animal Crossing: New Leaf. On the PlayStation platforms, new entry Deadpool fought its way into sixth, while Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed III rounded out the top ten. What’s been keeping your wallet empty lately? Personally, I would expect the sex line number accident to lift rather than hurt sales of TLOU.

Well it's a fairy minor problem which gives them more press. BONUS!

Complaints of a sex line number on an 18 rated game. what next, complaints of violence?

I think all the "bad" PR may be embarrassing for ND but good for sales. OK, the save malfunction was bad, but dismemberment and phone numbers and Justin Beiber were all keeping this in the news w/o any detriment to sales. If they would have added Bieber as a minor character you killed it might have sold even better

Awesome. I like seeing Tomb Raider hanging on as well. It's my second favorite Game of the Year so far after The Last of Us.

Tomb Raider still in the top 10, I can see how SquareEnix would consider this game a flop, I mean it just keeps selling.

As for The Last of Us, the only story that really hurts is that snob making her 'ripped off' comment. Looks like that may not effect sales in Europe but her in North America where idiots worship these people it could have a negative impact.
