The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Outside of camera-heavy titles, you’ll be able to enjoy every PlayStation 4 release on your PlayStation Vita. That includes sprawling epics such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – and fortunately, developer CD Projekt Red is working hard to ensure that the adventure plays perfectly on Sony’s portable platform.

Asked if the company is having trouble transcribing the game’s controls to the Vita, director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz responded that the Polish studio designed the release to be as flexible as possible during the pre-production process. This is allowing it to maintain a quality experience across multiple consoles.

"Everything is a question of the design philosophy that you adopt during the early phase of the pre-production process," he told PSU. “Remember that interface differences are not only the case for the PS4 and Vita – as a multiplatform developer, we also need to take into account the differences between all of the platforms. This means that we need to introduce solutions that are flexible and universal so that the game runs smoothly and provides a similar experience on all machines – including the Vita.”

Despite that, the company's focusing on the console version for the time being. "Our first and main objective is to lock the final control scheme on the PS4 itself," he explained. “Only when this is done can we provide support for alternative control modes later on. Since we’re still adding functionality to the game and testing the friendliness of our control schemes, we can’t say much about the Vita yet.”

Still, the fact that a game like The Witcher 3 is going to be playable on the portable in the first place is a serious reason to celebrate. Will you be furthering Geralt’s journey on the pocketable platform? Let us know in the comments section below.
