Battlestar Galactica

We’ve known for several years that Sony Santa Monica is working on a new title for the PlayStation 4, but the platform holder has kept the release secret during that time. However, the San Diego Comic-Con has provided us with our first hint at the project’s progress, as legendary screenwriter Michael Angeli has confirmed that he’s been collaborating with the first-party outfit for the past two and a half years.

Hidden hints

The author – best known for his work on Battlestar Galactica – told Polygon that the unannounced title is unrelated to the God of War series. According to Angeli, upon the completion of the recently released God of War: Ascension, the company transitioned its entire team to the project, which is supposedly being steered by God of War III director Stig Asmussen. Last year, the Sony Santa Monica veteran said that he was doing “cool stuff” at the studio.

Angeli was unable to elaborate any further on the project, but he admitted that his work on Battlestar Galactica had enabled him to land the job, lending credence to the rumours suggesting that the title will be set in space. A secret message discovered in God of War: Ascension hinted as much, noting: “When the Earth stops, the journey begins.” Frustratingly, additional details are being kept under wraps for the time being – but we suspect that this is going to blow your socks off when it’s announced.
