We already know that The Last of Us has got off to a stellar start in the UK, but just how well did it sell during its first weekend on the market? Eurogamer.net reports that the title stomped the launch sales of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune by a whopping five times. It also beat out Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ opening tally.
However, the title didn’t quite topple Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s debut – though that game did release earlier in the week, giving it a few extra days to sell additional copies. It also deployed in the busy November period, a timeframe when people are more prone to purchase big games for holiday gifts.
We’ll have to wait for more information before we can declare the title a success, but the signs are looking positive, aren’t they? Who said that you can’t launch a new property at the end of a system’s lifespan, again?

Who said the PS3 is dead?
well this game is great hope it has long legs
Hopefully it keeps doing well, new IPs are rare these days.
lovin' it!
So is that a good or bad? I can't find an actual single number anywhere.
Here's some randomly hypothetical numbers off the top of my head until I can find some real numbers.
UC1 - 1 million units sold, 5 million PS3 in homes worldwide = 20% of base
LoU - 5x = 5 million units, 70 million PS3 in homes worldwide = 7% of base
These are all made up, I'm not saying any of them are approaching anything near reality. I hated most of Uncharted though so I'm fine w/ this being 5x better.
Game of the Year for sure.
