PS4 System Architect Mark Cerny Didn't See The Console Casing Until E3

Posted by Damien McFerran

"I was in the nosebleed seats with the rest of the audience"

Mark Cerny is an industry veteran and the man behind the PS4's internal architecture. You might assume that this means he will have been one of the first people to see the console's sleek external casing — but you'd be wrong.

Cerny has revealed that he decided against seeing the PS4 with its clothes on, instead opting to lay his eyeballs on the console at the same time as everyone else: during the E3 2013 reveal.

I was in the nosebleed seats with the rest of the audience! It was a lot of fun. To be honest, it was the first time I saw the console. They offered to show it to me but I wanted to see it at the same time as the rest of the world. I had intentionally not seen it until the big reveal...I think it’s beautiful.

We totally and utterly agree, Mark.

His talk today at GameLab was engrossing. Very frank about the PS3.

I saw someone else comment that he could read the phone book and make it interesting, and I agree... there's definitely something about the guy.
