E3 2013: Sony Rubs Salt into the Xbox One's Used Games Dilemma

Following Sony's momentous E3 showing – in which the firm delivered the revelation that the PlayStation 4 will play used games – a video has surfaced on the Japanese giant's official YouTube channel, mocking the somewhat more complicated procedure of pre-owned content on its competitor's platform. At just 22 seconds long, it's well worth a watch – you're just going to have to trust us on this one.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.

The small print "PS4 online multiplayer requires a PS+ subscription" didn't get a lot of coverage last night while Jack Tretton was lambasting MS.

Also, I think WiiU works like this as well, so it's not simply a Sony thing.

Hardware wise I agree, though I do think WiiU is probably "close enough" to PS4 where Wii was way behind PS3 w/o having HDD, HD graphics or decent online. But the games will be next to each other on store shelves and in Redbox kiosks and on Gamefly as new games coming out at the same time, so from a game buying, trading, renting position they are the same gen., where X1 games will be absent from Gamefly and Redbox. And that's what this article was about - trading, not horsepower.
