Losers in love will be able to wipe away their tears with a copy of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII next year, as Square Enix has confirmed that the sequel will launch on 14th February in Europe. The game’s due out on the slightly less romantic release date of 11th February in North America – but you could always elect to pick it up later if you’re desperate for that candlelit dinner with Serah Farron.
You can check out the title’s latest trailer below, which features the usual blend of bad voice acting, hyperactive audio, and incredible hair styles. There’s also a glimpse of returning character Snow Villiers, which we’re sure is exciting for the dozen or so people that are actually up to date with the series’ story. Hint: we’re not one of them.

Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed the bad voice acting xD.
I like the idea of a not Turn Based Final Fantasy game but I haven't player the other XIII games to even consider getting this one.
Crystal Chronicles WHERE ARE YOU?
They should gotten Cherami Leigh to do the job. Her or Colleen Clinkenbeard would have been perfect as Lightning.
I've enjoyed XIII and have yet to play XIII-2, but if there's one thing that annoys the hell out of me on newer FF games is that they try so hard to make the characters look and act cool that it's ridiculous. I also really would like to see the FF series taking itself a lot less seriously.
Oh Snow... why do I hate you.
@fchinaski Yeah, it turns me off, too. I actually think Lightning is a pretty cool character, but the rest of the cast does absolutely nothing for me.
I would think maybe the bad syncing/ VA work might be caused by translation production. It's likely they first make the entire game in Japanese and rework a copy for other languages. Maybe since it's such a new title this was rushed? 13 and 13-2 had really good VA imo.
@nathanuc1988 Urgh, I disagree. So bad:
@get2sammyb I.. I like it they might not be on par with something like Persona 4, but really what is? I enjoyed Vanille's accent because it was a bit different and Caius's voice... MAN CAIUS'S VOICE! Liam O'brien nailed it. I also thought Snow, Fang, and Sazh were all really well done too. Lightning and Sarah were bland but I think Hope was the only one I didn't care for all that much.
In other topics, I'm hoping down the line they announce this for PS4. I didn't plan to keep my PS3 all that long after PS4 comes out was also really hoping to see this come out during the holidays.
Trailer actually looked pretty interesting. If it were a new IP or even just a new FF game I'ld be interested but FF13 was so bad so I haven't even considered playing the sequel. This has a few scenes that remind me of KH1 in gameplay and setting so that's a plus.
Last memorable FF VO work was Wakka.
Somewhere in the world are 100 people who would lock themselves in a room for 3 years w/o pay and recreate FF7 w/ this engine and SE could keep all the profits.
@get2sammyb : bring me a bucket.
Wow it's as if they're trying to kill the game's hype. Oh wait, it never had hype to begin with. What do they call this again? Oh right - 'bomba'.
wasn't it meant to be out some time this year?
Still waiting for Versus XIII...
@FullbringIchigo It was, yes.
@get2sammyb oh well i can wait
I looking forward to playing this game.
I want this game! :3
Lightning is one of my favorite FF characters.
@get2sammyb What's wrong with the VA? I think he sounds good... he sounds, natural.
Another game in the most meh Final Fantasy mini-series ever. XIII needs to stop, XIV needs to be fixed, and XV needs to be more goofy and fun like the first 6 Final Fantasy games.
This actually looks pretty good to me. Can't wait to play it with my bro.
