E3 2013: Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes May Make You Mad

If you’re the type of gamer that enjoys being punished, Nicalis’ upcoming PlayStation Vita platformer Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes may be right up your alley. The old-school title puts you inside the shoes of an intrepid adventurer armed with a pocketful of daggers and a rather fetching hat. With just 1,001 lives you must navigate six worlds and copious levels. The game’s been designed to be as “cruel” as possible, so don’t expect this to be a walk in the park.

In addition to the gaggle of handheld snapping single-player levels, the title will also support co-op and competitive multiplayer options, in addition to a slew of guest characters and retro cut-scenes. There’s no word on a firm release date just yet, but the Californian developer promises that you’ll be able to exhaust all of your lives at some point later this year.
