Japanese Sales Charts: PlayStation Vita Strong, New Software Takes Control

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen scorches second

We don’t think that we’ve ever seen this many new releases on a single Media Create chart. There are no less than 13 fresh titles included on this week’s Japanese best sellers list, with many of them for the PlayStation 3 and Vita. Of the newcomers, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen flew the highest, finishing in second with 125k units sold. Tomb Raider opened in fourth, while BioShock Infinite debuted in tenth.

PlayStation Vita titles Photo Kano Kiss and Labyrinth Cross Blood Infinity both got off to decent starts, shifting 30k units and 9k units respectively. It was a decent week for Sony’s handheld overall, with the console moving 21k units in total, up from 15k units. Meanwhile, the PS3 sold 14k units, while the PSP continued to bite at the Wii U’s heels with 8k units.

We’ve included the full list of movers and shakers below. It’s nice to see the Vita starting to stabilise in its home territory, though its revival will be put to the test over the next couple of weeks, as it doesn’t have a whole lot of content in the pipeline.

The psp sales are going down and the vita sales are up. Maybe people are finally upgrading.

What? 6,847 for LoH? That's beyond disappointing. With those numbers, there's no way XSeed will take a chance on it, and perhaps even Falcom will not be as enthusiastic either.
It's a shame that one of the best series ever made has such a horrid opening, granted it's an HD remaster, but still :c
