Part of the appeal of the first two inFAMOUS titles was the manner in which you could replenish your powers from generators and electrical objects. However, when we attempted to predict the mechanics of the impending inFAMOUS: Second Son in a recent feature, we came up short. As opposed to the supercharged Cole MacGrath, the semi-sequel will sport a new smouldering star named Delsin Rowe. So, how does he restock his abilities?
According to the latest issue of Game Informer magazine, the snarky 20-something feasts on the smoke from chimneys, destroyed cars, and even gas canisters. To absorb the essence from these objects, you’ll need to put both of your thumbs on the touch pad – a mechanic that sounds similar to Gravity Rush’s slightly hokey slide ability. You’ll also be able to use the new tactile input to open the lid of laptop computers.
There are tons more details in the latest issue of Game Informer, which is available through here. A few other little tidbits: you will be able to fly like in vampire spin-off inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood, moral mechanics will make a comeback, and, yes, you’ll be able to move through air ducts. Sucker Punch is also hoping to simplify the game’s controls, which we felt were already close to perfection in the previous two games. Hopefully, the first-party studio doesn’t make the platforming too automatic.

Hype. I think we'll definitely see a gameplay demo of this at E3.
@get2sammyb that's a guarantee I'd say. It sounds great, apart from how Delsin himself is described. It kind of sounds like they're trying far too hard to make him a rebel, especially with his 'tagging' and all that. I just think it's a cliche we don't necessarily need.
Awesome so I just need to create a chaos around the city to recharge my health and energy I already did that without the need of it xD
I'd hope the mechanics are refined, I couldn't get into the controls too well on FoB until near the end. Flying was neat though most of the time.
@irken004 Really? I think a hallmark of all Sucker Punch games — including the Sly Cooper series — is that they just nail the controls. Moving around the world in the first two inFAMOUS games really felt super slick in my opinion — it's part of the appeal of those games for me. If they can improve on what they already have, then we're in for something special.
@ShogunRok I agree, though Cole and Sly are kinda jackasses when you come to think of it. I must admit, as much as I love the inFAMOUS games, I don't really feel attached to any of the characters in that world.
This is the most frustrating time of the year for Game News. All the big announcements are just around the xorner! e3 cant come soon enough.
Using two thumbs to inhale smoke? This seems awfully, awfully familiar to me for some reason. Hmmmmmmm........
Why not just carry a pack of cigarettes or burn a pile of tires? Oh... right, it would not be "politically correct". 'sigh'
@get2sammyb Yeah see idk, Sly games felt pretty good but then FoB felt more loose in comparison to me. Infamous games just aren't for me apparently
@Hetsumani Cigarettes would barley provide any smoke, and where are you going to find tires to burn while being shot at?
@get2sammyb I agree completely about the platforming and controls. It's just a joy to traverse the city in inFamous. Improvement would be absolutely amazing.
I just hope that improvement actually means improvement and not that some focus group member didnt like the control scheme so we're changing everything . Whats interesting to me is that using the to touch pad leaves R2 lpen to add another power to or weapon to. Sounds exciting!
Delsin its gonna be a long wait but see u in April
bLOW UP STUFF AND ABSORB THE SMOKE!
