Gran Turismo 5

Scoop up a great heap of salt and toss a hearty helping over your shoulder, because North American retailer Newegg is listing Gran Turismo 6 for the PlayStation 3. According to the online technology plaza, the racing simulator is due out on 28th November. That date’s likely to be a placeholder – it coincides with Thanksgiving – but the attached platform is certainly interesting.

Earlier in the year, Sony Worldwide Studios vice president Michael Denny mistakenly mentioned in an interview that the next entry in Polyphony Digital’s popular driving series would launch on the company’s current generation console. Chatting about the riches of software heading to the system in 2013, the executive said: “Look at the games coming out [...] like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, [and] GT6.”

SCEE gaffer Jim Ryan later added that there’s still plenty of noteworthy content in production for the PS3. "I'd point to the software line-up that we have coming up – God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, which is looking great, and Beyond: Two Souls later in the year," he explained. “And there's other stuff yet to be announced, which is highly significant too.”

The thought of the next instalment in Sony’s colossal simulation series deploying on existing hardware around the same time as the PS4 strikes us as odd, but the evidence is starting to mount up now. Treat this as a rumour for the time being – but unless Newegg’s been keeping up to date with the latest gaming speculation, then we’re not sure why it would suddenly decide to create a product page for an unannounced game.
