You Should Really Consider Signing This Yakuza 5 Petition

We'll cry if you don't

Petitions are almost always futile, but when they revolve around a franchise that’s dear to our heart, we suppose they’re at least worth a shot. A group of Yakuza 5 fans have started up an online campaign to get the latest entry in the gangster series localised. Over the past few years, publisher SEGA has stealthily deployed the latest Yakuza titles overseas in March. Sadly, this year, there’s been nothing.

The petition itself mimics the one that the Japanese company started for Hatsune Miku Project Diva F earlier in the month. So far, it’s netted around 673 likes, which is a decent return. Obviously, it needs lots, lots more, though. Clicking through here and showing your support will take all of ten seconds, so make sure that you join in now.

Yakuza 5 was released late last year in Japan, promising a slew of improvements over its predecessors. In addition to overhauled battle mechanics, a new storyline, and fresh locations to explore, it also boasts five playable protagonists, including, for the first time, Haruka, protagonist Kazuma Kiryu’s adopted daughter.

I'm so desperate for this game to get localised. As much as I enjoyed the goofiness of 'Of the End', I can't believe that SEGA decided to localise that one and not the proper sequel.

Signed. It will get localised without a doubt. Personally I'm much more interested in the Project Diva f petition and hoping a Phantasy Star Online petition appears soon. And a Guardian Heroes HD one.

Count me in . Wouldn't it be nice if we can get Yakuza 1&2 collection as well? Come on Sega, Yakuza is one of favorite game series on PS3 along with Uncharted.

@fishwilson I doubt it. It would take a tremendous amount of effort porting the game. If this is coming overseas, it will be with minimal effort. I.e. a subtitle translation and nothing more.

@get2sammyb Exactly, the only thing that the prequels got was a text translation - it's not a hard job or a particularly expensive one. I'm not really sure why SEGA haven't done it yet.
