Controversial industry analyst Michael Pachter believes that Microsoft will "deliberately trash” the PlayStation 4 during its own next generation announcement event in order to give the impression that its console is stronger. With details regarding Sony’s impending machine readily available, the outspoken Wedbush Securities employee insinuated that the Xbox manufacturer will use the information to its advantage.
“Sony announced [the PS4] on 20th February, and Microsoft’s probably going to [reveal the next Xbox] sometime around late April to early June,” he said on the latest episode of his GameTrailers show, Pach-Attack. “So, Sony has at least a two month head start, and it’s going to get a lot of press. That’s great. The only thing that anyone’s going to think about is how great the PS4 is for two months.”
He continued: “But then Microsoft’s going to announce, and I think it’s going to very deliberately trash the PS4. I think they’re going to say, ‘Whatever Sony did, ours is better.’ I don’t know if that’s true, but I think Microsoft’s going to say it. And then they’ll have a couple of months, during which time Sony’s going to [defend the PS4]. Ultimately, you’re going to be highly educated about [both systems] by the time that E3 rolls around.”
Pachter was responding to a question regarding the timing of the next Xbox's announcement. He concluded that the delay won’t result in much of an advantage for the PS4. “Come holiday, you’re going to be able to make a decision about which machine you want,” he added. “As far [as Microsoft losing some of the market], that’ll only happen to people who pre-order [the PS4] early. Fortunately, I don’t think the pre-order numbers are going to be [particularly high]. I think they’re going to be half a million. It’s not going to be many.”
Comparisons between Microsoft and Sony’s systems are naturally going to be made by the media and consumers, so we’re not sure that either manufacturer needs to come out and make those observations directly. Like I said before, if Microsoft can come up with something that beats the PS4 from a technical sysndpoint, then I would be impressed. That wouldn't make me buy a 720, but I would be impressed.
*Share videos and screenshots of gameplay
*Stream games to your handheld(Microsoft doesn't have one, so it's void)
*Ability to put the console to sleep and jump back into the game at the exact same point later.

we do not even need the ps4 and the 720. My xbox360 and my ps3 is exactly the same apart from the controller. Really. Give me the PS720 and then i'll be happy.

Its exactly the kind of thing Microsoft has always done...they are dirty fighting bullying and thuggish. I don't like how Microsoft conducts itself, and I've never been interested in joining their rank of consumers.

@fishwilson If you don't want the PS4 or 720, you could always not buy one. The PS3 will still be getting games, so people need to stop acting like Sony is trying to force the PS4 down our throats. Oh, and while the PS3 and 360 are nowhere near the same, it's your opinion and I won't try to change it.
Also, Sony and Microsoft don't like each other, so you won't ever be seeing any kind of collaboration from them.

@TheRealBatman Its not that I don't want them. I do want a next-gen console. What I am trying to say is that I want ONE next-gen console. I bought the Wii and the 360 and the PS3 for the exclusives, but I would rather just buy one and get ALL the games on that one. Now its like when I want to buy a game that is not exclusive to one console I first check which consoles version got the most favorable reviews, then I think about which controller would fit the best and then I buy that version which I think will be the best fit. I rather not have that anymore, I think competition is healthy in a marked dominated economy but I also think we are at some kind of crossroad with the big games getting rather expensive to produce, port and marked and I can see some benefits in getting rid of one of the three big players in the console field.

Sony and Microsoft are always using this method, Pachter Only one that doesn't is Nintendo, and even sometimes they sneak one by, it's just the way rivals work.

But seriously, yes, all companies do it. It's not really news is it? Like everything Patcher says we already all know it. He really needs to stop thinking he's some sort of video game demi god and realise he's just as much a nobody as the rest of us.
Nothing new there. Microsoft have always done things like that.
With the PS3 and 360, it was always about how people wanted games consoles to play games and the 360 was the 'games machine' and the PS3 was a 'media centre'. Then HD-DVD collapsed, lots of 'media' apps started appearing, and suddenly they wanted 360 as the 'media centre of choice' and games (seemingly) started taking a back seat.
There are features of PS4 which, with things as they currently are, Microsoft simply can't offer. They have no custom tech, no streaming service, and Live is historically a closed network, so sharing etc. to outside networks would be quite limited. They can't compete feature-wise unless they're planning a major overhaul of Live from the ground up.
Wouldn't surprise me if MS does this and it would really be no different than some of Sony's tactics in the past. It's business and these are competing companies so I expect some trash talk and I expect to get some good laughs at grown men and women acting like children at some point as well. All it is talk, in the long run none of it means anything, especially to me, I plan to buy each company's system as long as neither does anything stupid. The only quesiton is which one to get first. Right now I'd lean towards heavily towards PS4 but there is always the chance that MS could deliver something that blows everybody away. We'll just have to wait and see, hopefully for not too much longer.
Even if the neXbox was twice as powerful as PS4, I'd still buy the PS4 because of the GAMES.
