Psycho smash

Borderlands 2 is expanding once again in May, courtesy of Krieg, the sixth vault hunter to pillage Pandora in pursuit of loot. Originally teased at SXSW earlier in the year, the character class was officially unveiled during a PAX East panel yesterday. The post-release protagonist will set you back $9.99, and won’t be available as part of the title’s season pass. You can catch a glimpse of him in action courtesy of the trailer embedded below.

“Wielding a buzz axe and harnessing his psychotic multiple personalities, Krieg is a badass melee mauler with ranged attack capabilities that can rip foes to shreds with his deadly Buzz Axe Rampage action skill,” says the official press release. “Players can stack combat bonuses with Krieg's Bloodlust skill tree, live on the edge of insanity with the Mania tree, or engulf both enemies and yourself in flames with the Hellborn tree.”

During its panel, Gearbox also took a moment to reveal the Vault Hunter Upgrade pack, which is due out on 2nd April. The add-on – which will be free for season pass holders – will raise the game’s level cap from 50 to 61, as well unlock a third playthrough of the campaign named 'Ultimate Vault Hunter' mode. Don’t worry if you’re not a season pass holder, though, because you’ll be able to purchase the DLC for $5.99 on its own. Finally, there’s one more piece of post-release content on the way, and that’s due out in June.
