Journey Sweeps DICE Awards, Scoops Eight Gongs

Journey got no less than eight honours caught up in its scarf at the DICE awards last night. The stunning PlayStation Network exclusive swept up accolades for sound design, innovation, and online gameplay. It also floated away with the coveted ‘Game of the Year’ gong. Telltale's excellent The Walking Dead came closest to matching thatgamecompany's success, bludgeoning its way to a respectable four awards.

Elsewhere, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale netted a nod in the fighting game category, while Borderlands 2 took best action title. FIFA 13 ran away with the sports segment, while Mass Effect 3 summoned best RPG. Finally, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell became the 17th luminary to be added to the AIAS Hall of Fame.

I watched the whole thing until a ridiculous time in the morning, One of the highlights was when some drunk guy took to the stage and started ranting about montages and gaming. It was brilliant.

^Journey was also released as part of a 3 pack on disc, so I don't think it qualified for the Downloadable section anymore.
