Glow off the pavement

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’s latest combatants will enter the ring on 12th February in North America and 13th February in Europe, developer SuperBot Entertainment has announced. As previously revealed, both Kat and Emmett Graves will be available for free for a limited period of two weeks, after which they’ll set you back an undisclosed fee. The newcomers will come augmented with alternate costumes, arcade mode cut-scenes, and more.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, community manager Dan Maniago revealed a little more about what you can expect from the new fighters. Kat is pitched as an “up-close melee fighter who utilises her ability to manipulate gravity to turn the tide in battle”. You’ll be able to fly around the stage and bend physics in order to inflict some serious damage on your foes.

Meanwhile, Emmett Graves takes advantage of his signature style from Starhawk, allowing you to call different structures into battle, such as Rift Extractors and Flak Turrets. You’ll also be able to request alternative artillery, allowing you to tailor your skills to any situation. “These load-outs will change his level one super, giving him a total of five supers to choose from,” Maniago added.

In addition, a new stage called Fearless will be made available in February – but it sounds like you’re going to have to pay extra for that. Plumping up for the WipEout and Heavenly Sword mash-up will allow you to enjoy the arena in offline and non-ranked lobbies, but you’ll still be able to play the stage in ranked matches, even if you don't decide to buy it.

And if all of that wasn't enough, SuperBot Entertainment promises that there’s plenty more to come. “We still have some more All-Stars on the way, so keep your eyes peeled in March for more information,” Maniago teased. Who’s next on your wishlist? Let us know in the comments section below.
