What is The Phantom Pain? Honestly, we’re not even sure developer Moby Dick Studio knows, seeing as its website focuses on wedding photography. Still, at least the title’s added some mystery to the typically predictable Spike VGAs. [Actually, it looks like this is Moby Dick Studio's website. Whoops. - Ed.]

The trailer itself shows a Solid Snake look-a-like crawling through an under siege hospital ward. Personally, we reckon this is viral marketing for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, but we've been wrong before. We'll update you as soon as we know more. In the meantime, check out the pretty pictures below.

Update: Looks like we were spot on. Moby Dick Studio was founded by 'Joakim Mogren'. That is, of course, an anagram of 'Kojima'. It's also worth noting that 'Mogren' contains the word 'Ogre' – as in Project Ogre. The developer is apparently based in Sweden, and is working on PlayStation 3.
