Down for the count

Shuhei Yoshida has refused to confirm whether troubled PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last Guardian will release next year. Chatting with French website JeuxVideo, the Sony Worldwide Studios president explained that the last time the company announced a date for the Team ICO developed title, it ultimately disappointed a lot of people – and thus it's eager to avoid the same mistake.

The affable executive added: “It is precisely because the team's working on the technical aspect of the game that we have nothing concrete to show you today. So now I'm waiting for the right time to introduce you to The Last Guardian and speak with confidence of a release date.”

The Last Guardian was originally announced in 2009, but has suffered many set-backs since. Most recently Sony noted that it was struggling with technical issues, leading to some speculation that the game will actually re-emerge on PlayStation 4. That's currently where our money lies, too.
