Not a shuffling body in sight

Zombies have become a staple of the Black Ops experience – but upcoming handheld spin-off Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified will not feature the popular undead survival mode. Speaking on his blog, Activision community manager Dan Amrich explained that the option was removed so that developer Nihilistic could focus on multiplayer instead.

"This is the first Call of Duty game on Vita, and it needs to deliver on its core strengths – arguably, multiplayer gaming with twin-stick controls in a portable format. That's the core experience, and that simply needs to come first,” he said. “There's always a list of things you want to do and things you need to do, and at the end of the day, realistic goals are the ones that people actually attain.”

Amrich continued that Black Ops Declassified will instead include a Hostiles mode, in which you must mow down hordes of armed forces as opposed to “shambling corpses”. Let’s see how good the artificial intelligence is before we start making any sweeping statements.
