Microsoft's Making You Wait for These Resident Evil 6 Modes

Posted by Sammy Barker

Bah humbug

Timed exclusivity is silly. We understand why it’s necessary in an age where legitimate third-party exclusives are heading the way of the dodo – but it’s infuriating when content is taken away from your platform of choice just because another company paid for it.

Take Resident Evil 6 – the game’s getting three extra modes on Xbox 360. They’ve probably already been developed for the PS3, but Microsoft’s money says you can’t play them. Not yet, anyway.

The additions include a Last Man Standing style versus mode, where killed players respawn as enemies. There’s also a Predator mode, which sees a group of players trying to stave off a single Ustanak (think Tyrant but much uglier), and a Siege mode, which challenges teams to protect and eliminate a single non-player character. That last one doesn’t sound too hot, does it?

The three modes will launch shortly after Resident Evil 6’s release on Xbox 360. Unsurprisingly, there's no word on when the content will hit PS3. Pssht...

At least PS3 gets the far better Collector's Edition which is why I went with that version. This is some major bs though, we're not missing out on any story content which is good but I find it ridiculous to hold back stuff like this from any console especially when it's at the expense of the fanbase that made your freaking franchise the hit that it is. RE 5 also sold better on PS3, so that makes it even more annoying.

Eh, I don't know anyone who plays Resident Evil games (other than RC) for the competitive multiplayer. It's probably just going to be games that has multiplayer for the sake of having it rather than it adding to anything (like RE5).

I'm getting tired of seeing content being held back on a game we all pay $60 for just because another company starts waving their money around. Timed DLC is one thing but this is content that is on disk and should be available day to everybody from the start.
