Gearbox’s extremely popular Borderlands franchise has maintained its record breaking form by smashing pre-order records. Publisher 2K Games told MCV earlier this week that the upcoming Borderlands 2 has become the most anticipated title in the company’s history.
“We’re exceptionally happy with the level of support gamers have shown to Borderlands 2, and the pre-orders are reflecting what a beloved franchise this is,” sales director Dave Gould told the industry website. “Orders are increasing week-on-week at a rate we’ve never before experienced for a 2K title. They are exceeding our already high expectations, there’s huge momentum behind the game.”
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of 2K Games’ parent company Take-Two, added that the first-person shooter is the third most pre-ordered title in the firm’s history. It sits behind Rockstar’s staggeringly successful Grand Theft Auto series.

I'm just now playing the first one thanks to PS+ and I'm enjoying it. I'm not really a first person fan but the leveling up and buying and selling guns is really addictive.
I don't plan on pre-ordering the second one or anything but I could see picking it up later on.
My only real complaint with the first game is the lackluster story.
