Expect lots more of this

Looks like Ubisoft is not thinking small with its post-release plans for Assassin’s Creed III. A thank you message sent out to GameStop employees notes that the publisher is in the process of setting up a “complementary development” team to create DLC for the historical blockbuster.

The message adds that a Season Pass service will be made available for the title, presumably granting subscribers with access to all of the title’s upcoming DLC packs. “We’d love your continued assistance in informing pre-order customers that a better value is available for those who pre-order Assassin’s Creed III with the Season Pass,” the message continues. We bet you would, Ubisoft.

To be honest, we don’t really have a big problem with the Season Pass initiative. If you love an experience enough to buy all of the DLC anyway, it makes sense to stump up for the content in one transaction. The big problem here is that Assassin’s Creed III isn’t out yet – how do you know whether you want more of it if you haven’t even played the single-player campaign yet?
