Quiet contemplation

Rockstar Games has warned that it will be a while before it is in a “position to show more of” Grand Theft Auto V – squashing speculation that the open-world opus is set to make a surprise debut later this year.

Speaking as part of a community Q&A, the company explained that it’s “very busy working on the game” and that “everything is going well” despite the lack of information.

The developer continued:

As we have said before, we have often had long gaps between asset releases on previous games and will continue to do so in the future. We are sorry if you find this frustrating, but please understand, we don’t do this because we “don’t care about our fans”.

We do it because we want to make sure we only release 100% correct information, and because we want to keep plenty back for the actual game release so there are still lots of surprises when you play it.

To sate the growing anticipation, the company released two new screenshots. One shows a helicopter towering over Los Santos, while the other focuses on an enormous lake. Unsurprisingly, both images look extremely pretty.

Feel free to drink in the new screenshots at your own pace, and let us know what you think in the comments.
